OK I'm trying to get a definitive answer here. Googling hasn't made it clear enough for me. Do ntsc j games work on a pal 360?

I've picked up a brand new copy of Devil May Cry 4 (for $20, bargain) and got it home and then realised it was the ntsc j verision. Stressed out a bit, gave it a spin and it works fine. I also have the ntsc j version of Mass Effect and that works great as well.

Some say that all ntsc j games will work on all pal 360's but do any of you know for sure? Anyone had a ntsc j not work on their 360?

Cheers:thumbsu:

If you bought it locally what shop did you buy it from?

When I bought The Orange Box from Gametraders in the city a few months back it was a ntsc j region and the guy said that they wouldn't sell a game that doesn't work on pal xboxs.

If you were buying from overseas say play-asia they generally have a compatability chart for all the regions.
I got DMC4 from Gametraders as well. From what I can tell they are starting to sell quite a few ntsc j games.

I'm more wanting to know for other games that I want to buy.

I think its a case of some do some don't

There's a compatibility chart on the play asia site i think

Don't know if all do or not, but all of the ones I have do.

It's funny you know, because NTSC-J of DMC4 is not meant to actually work on a PAL system according to Play Asia.

I might have a region free copy. Pretty weird.

I would think that more than likely Play Asia got it wrong.

It's either region free or it's not.

So it's NTSC-J and it works ok on your PAL un-modified 360?

Is there any asian writing on the cover?

The newer models Have it...so all models bought after Dec 30 2007

Yep its a legit copy and I was told it was ntsc j and it has"ntsc" but no j on the cover.

Eggman... what do you mean?

Ah, ok, it's probably an NTSC-U copy (US) as DMC4 US copy is region free, NTSC-J is not.

Check on the spine of the cover, it should say NTSC or NTSC-J

If it doesnt say J then it's the US copy

They released another 360 with better hard drive and CPU and that model can run NTSC.

It was realeased after christmas last year

I think you'll find that's incorrect, but happy to be proven wrong (link perhaps??)

The system is not region coded, the game discs are (hence the reason some are region free, some are region locked)

If your Xbox Pro is Lot: 0742 then it can play most regions

Where are you getting this information from? Provide a link.

I have a launch console and it plays all region free games.

The discs are region locked, not the console
