Battery life improved, still no second stick, out in August.

Looks good

Looks good but wheres the 2nd stick? guess not many games are planned to be using it, still would've been handy

Glad i got rid of mine, wasnt happy with the size and battery performance, since then I've been waiting for something like this, a definite day 1 buy for me. Is that August worldwide?

Late July in Japan, and August 19th in NA are the only dates announced. You'd assume/hope we're similar to the States.

Seems like a weird pain in the arse.
You should get that checked.

I like that Nintendo stated they weren't working on an adaption of the 3DS during E3 and then 2 weeks later this comes out.

I don't get why the need for it to be larger if they aren't putting the 2nd stick on there though. Maybe if they turned it into the Wii U controller or something that'd be good. But this really seems like a superfluous 'upgrade'.

I guess this also means the 2nd stick attachment for the RE game is redundant for it until they bring out ANOTHER attachment?

Yeh but it was Miyamoto which makes it OK

From what I've heard the DSi XL was actually very popular and good. The lack of the second stick is interesting though

This will probably mean the original 3ds will be cheaper now that the big version is only $20 more (well, in the US).

I guess thats it for the Vita then.

basically, 3ds has the game too.

unless sony come out with something big at their game heaven this month, vita is dead imo

after MGS/JSR come out next week, there's nothing coming out for the vita until end of august and thats only for the us (ragnarok odysee), there's a 3 month gap of nothing for everyone else

looks like sony lost again to nintendo, its not looking good for them

Can you run us through the 3DS amazing line up then?

don't have time to list them all but;

new super mario bros 2
luigis mansion
animal crossing
kingdom hearts
fire emblem
castlevania
epic mickey
paper mario
bravery default
heroes of ruin
final fantasy theatrhythm
scribblenauts

theres more but thats just off the top of my head

Vita was dead about a week after launch

So people who bought the circle pad pro for the original 3DS and want to play the same games with it, will have to keep their old 3DS too? Seems very odd

Like the size though, the DSIXL still sells very well. Should be popular.

I think its being released on the same day as Super Mario 2 which would be very smart

Most of those aren't coming out in the range that you talked about for the Vita so its a pointless comparison.

I mean look, the Vita was never going to beat the 3DS, but just because it's not first doesn't mean it can't be successful. The gap of no releases is disappointing, but there's a very good back log of games available and with PS1 support imminent its not as if there's nothing to play. And even Sony would've made sure theres stuff in the pipeline (hopefully). Vita just needs a price drop.

But back on topic, hopefully the original 3ds can get a price drop and I can finally pick one up and finally play Ocarina of Time (come at me)

So I guess it just goes in line with the Nintendo DS XL? aka a DS for those with big hands and bad eyesight?

Agree. Ive got plenty to play on Vita, more than i ever had on 3DS, sure i grabbed a few because they were ridiculously cheap but if i take them out theres still: Resistance, Uncharted, Wipeout, Everybodys Golf, Modnation, Gravity Rush, Unit 13, Motorstorm RC & Rayman Origins. Thats a fairly decent lineup and a lot of variety for where its at in its life. If i was to get another 3DS tomorrow (will have another on Aug 23 now ;) ) then i'll get Mario Land, Mario Kart, Zelda, Star Fox 3d...thats about it (did also have RE Revelations and Sonic Generations but they were either boring or just plain garbage) and 2 are very old ports which is concerning. The future lineup is promising for 3DS but Sony wont be leaving the Vita without a good lineup too..and tbh from the list padman gave i'd say 4 of those 3DS games are must buys for me. Vita still has LBP, Assassins Creed & CoD plus all the PS3 ports by the time most of those come out and who knows maybe some other quirky gems in between like Gravity Rush.

Vita is far from dead, sure it wont touch the 3DS in sales but neither did the PSP and that had some great games.

Back on topic though, loving the rounded look of the XL too, sexy as ****

You're saying that as though Mario games are bad. :p
Obviously Mario games are of a fairly high quality. But after the 400th one, it's kind of like, can we get something new now?

I'm surprised the industry don't come down harder on Mario and Nintendo titles in general.

You get to the 3rd iteration of most games nowadays and everyone is 'tired' of them, but the 40599th Mario game comes out and it's still fresh?! Same could go for some of their other franchises too.

Gee Nintendo love making ugly Lego man machines don't they? Will have to get one before the end of the year though.

I reckon Mario gets a good run because he maybe has more in common with a favourite film star Scarlett Johansson or Alexis Texas than a typical video game franchise. Seeing that recognizable face (or rack, or botty, as the case may be) on the front of a dvd case is like a seal of quality; its probably not going to be shit. Probably.

since his back catalogue is so good you're willing to forgive the odd howler. Most of his games are pretty different, even those in the same genre. He's a good bloke old Mario.

I've been holding out because I thought the move to a handled with twin sticks was inevitable. I still think it is, but Nintendo are resisting for a little bit longer.

Forcing me to wait longer, but Kingdom Hearts is coming and I'm going to want to play it.

extended battery life the big plus here IMO

Yeah exactly what I was thinking, wait out until the second analog stick but ahh well. Personally think the XL is uglier but if it had a second stick it would be a definite day one for me but now might just wait a bit (doubt I will be able to resist it though as I have wanted a 3ds for a while) by the time Animal Crossing comes out I think I will have to have it though haha.

Also about the bigger battery I doubt it will be that much better as the screen would take a lot more to power, all good for me though as I doubt I will be playing it out and about too much!
