hey all we've just started an old boys club at St Francis Xavier College in Beaconsfield. We've been a pretty successful footballing school with already at a young age having three players in the system, Steve Salopek, Greg Tivendale and Brendan Fevola. There are alot of people in the South Eastern Suburbs excited about the new club and we're hoping to make our way up the grades in time, we have already recruited reasonably well and im curious what level of footy we can come to expect in the third 18's? We have no choice but to play in this division first up, is the standard really that bad?

Not at all, however it does vary greatly.. you will come up against a mix of ageing stars, very good players who cannot train due to work, blokes who want to play with mates, and blokes who cannot get games in 2nds or u19. That is a big mix. Some sides could still run around D grade seniors and be competitive, whereas a couple would lose to D4 ressies(well that may be a bit harsh)

cheers mate, if you can be arse do you think you could provide me a list or rough idea of the clubs we'll be up against, few of the lads are curious if we'll be treking all over the state.

hard to know who you will be playing against as apparently there are many new sides.. and a few pulling out. My guess is you will play against Kew, Old Carey, Scotch 2nd, Bulleen Temp, Old Geelong to name a few

love your work ROOSTERtalk, you are a true ambassador for this young St.Francis Xavier footy side.....

but what is the status on this social function you are meant to be organising for the lads, LESS political up-roars from yourself on bigfooty and more event managing thanks haha

eargerly awaiting, witnessing first-hand your fine work out of the centre square this year my friend

CROWS and THE SAINTS(franga) in '07

The draw is due this Wednesday I believe.
As for new teams; as you are well aware JP, Box Hill North are backing the entry of a team. The Dragons are up and fully ready to go. Some quality players mixed with raw recruits. Nearly thirty on the track each session lately.

Maybe just need a little work on the slalom handball drill eh?

This will be an interesting year in the Clubbies, I heard the competition can range from the really good to the really bad...it'll be good to see where we fit if we can just get one game out of the way in means of a practice game...
don't start me on slalom handball, i run in straight lines...

Still no fixture...

Hold up seems to be there are 11 teams in section 3 (10 in each of S1 and S2). I have been told that it will be definitely out today (having been previously told it was to be out yesterday).

JP, the Friars C18 side might be interested in a hit out on 14 April or 21 April. Do you have access to a ground on either of those dates? Our club is still trying to finalise a ground and may have one for 21 April.

Hi mate, yeah, we are interested definitely...but have no access to grounds this stage, will know more probably in a week about ground availability at our home ground in Box Hill.

I spoke to Whitehorse Council this morning JP.
They will allow training one night a week and unlimited use for Practice games during April.
SHHH ! It is supposed to be a secret though till next week.

:thumbsu: Good work mate, if we can confirm that then I will call the Friars 18's again ( son of a Gun's lead ) and we tee up a game...this is good stuff...

Clubbies draw is out. There isn't any notification on the VAFA website but if you look in the fixtures the details are there.
10 Clubs in each section. The Reds don't seem to have a second clubbies team anymore. C Section thread suggests they have 50-70 new players and could field 3 clubbies teams so I wonder what's going on there.
