Eric Clapton is a incredibly talented guitarist. One of my favourite musicians.

It's deceptively brilliant. Sounds simple but it's amazing guitar work. Great song too, one of his best.

I recently got his 2 disc Best of "Complete Clapton". Well worth a buy.

i think i heard he doesnt really play it any more. obviously it's a personal song and however many years it's been since the tragedy (late 80s, early 90s?), maybe he feels he grived long enough? i dunno.

He's stopped playing it live because he "doesn't feel the loss anymore". And that maybe they just need a rest then he'll be able to perform them in a detatched manner.
