Tom Browne:
Our cameraman have shot some very close up vision of McKenna training yesterday. I don’t know what’s normal for winter. Make your own assessment. He clears both nostrils of snot and looks like he is slightly spluttering.
@7NewsMelbourne

EFC:
He was asymptomatic.

Nick O'Brien:
My memory tells me someone reported you spluttering that day you rocked up at St Kilda sea baths when you thought Essendon were there in mid June only to realise you were being giggled at from Windy Hill

Compare that to the NRL's tweet

Conor was left to waltz back home to family while the squad was preparing for round 1. He was not held to the standard required of a professional athlete (that which was applied to his teammates) with regard to his season prep and then the EFC begged him to return to play out his last season when he clearly did not want to. How can we expect a standard of behaviour,
performance and adherence to guidelines when we’ve let him know loud and clear that he can do as he pleases? He will be found to have breached protocol and we will simply
reap what we’ve sewn with a half arsed unaccountable club environment; again. Take a cold hard look at the sequence of events objectively and it takes some serious mental gymnastics to conclude that we wouldn’t have been better off letting the guy walk.

Just let this narrative go. It isn't that deep.

You know why we haven’t won a final for several thousand days? Because we accept mediocre. Two of our players have beached COVID protocol. One resulting in a dump being taken on our immediate participation/competitiveness within the comp. Coincidence? This is yet another reminder that nothing has changed.

Yeah we haven't won a final for 15 years because we let McKenna go to Ireland. OK.

I'm not going to be getting into a circular argument about this.

If he's breached protocol then absolutely 100% correct. A few of us are on the record here about this guy and the club not letting him go. Where there is smoke there is fire.

Welcome to the 80's and 90's where clubs had 2 rules for players

9 million!! No wonder you’re carrying on like a pork chop. I would suggest you’re severely misinformed and/or uneducated with regard to COVID-19 itself and the related statistics.
As of today there has been 462k deaths, Kaz. You know Conor is asymptomatic? He will be fine. I’m not so sure about you though.

Because it's pretty early in the progress of the infection he might be pre-symptomatic, i.e. could still develop symptoms. This thing is really really bad for lungs and he might lose the aerobic capacity to be an elite athlete from this.

Hmm, that testing would want to be accurate.

There are issues with the tests. I've read anecdotes from doctors who have had patients with the classic 'ground glass' lung damage covid causes appearing on scans but test after test comes back negative.

I wouldn't be surprised if he picked it up while he was coming home from Ireland and it took a bit longer for the virus to incubate. That said, it sounds like there's a fair bit of community transmission in the northern suburbs of Melbourne so if that where he's based and he hasn't been abiding by the covid restrictions he could have easily picked it up here.

So, if Connor was tested Friday PM, as were the other players, but he was intercepted before training on Saturday, because his test was irregular, why can Connor not simply be replaced? No one else in the team is affected.
You can pass on the virus while not showing symptoms. Some studies suggest that 60% of virus transmission comes from asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic people, because the ones who get symptoms and feel sick stay at home where they're less likely to pass it on. I think there's a very good chance that multiple players contract it; they've been sharing the locker room, gym, massage tables and so on, and this is a highly contagious virus.

Iggy Unshirt, I get the feeling that you resent the fact that you have red and black in your veins and can’t quite tear yourself away from the club to follow a less abrasive one.

I happily pay my memberships every year and I always will. I just refuse to blindly swallow the dogshit we’ve been serving up since 2004. A contrarian isn’t always a bad thing. Imagine how handy Doc Reid might have been if his contrarian opinions were more forceful. Sadly he drowned in a sea of sycophants and the waves have kept rolling in ever since.
