Welcome on board Wade Dickens (to all the Letterkenny fans out there).

Absolutely rapt for the big fella, he'll finally get that opportunity he's always dreamed about....who said there's no sentiment in sport.....

Totally earned a spot on an AFL list - and as it's been pointed out previously, would likely still be on GWS's list if the Aints didn't do the dirty on Aleer. Reckon the Demons fans would be a bit filthy after GWS denied him a trade to them the end of 2024 - and now ends up at another club free of charge. If they had have got a suiter for May during the 2025 trade period, I have no doubt they would have grabbed him with both hands to fill that role.

Either way, he's one of ours now, so hope you have a long and successful career in the navy.

Three kids under 6yo … good luck young man.

In one of the interviews he talks about his family and mentions it's all for them. Never underestimate anyone with a very strong why.

Great addition to the list, just what we need and has plenty of upside.

“Sitting here now as a Carlton player, it’s pretty special.” 💙

“I had goosebumps. Michael Voss is your coach, you’re surrounded by quality players and the crowd was just a fraction of the amount of people, but it was the biggest crowd I’ve played in front of.
“It was unreal.

“I can’t wait to tell my young fella that I’m a Blues player, because he’ll learn the song and ride the wave with me.”

Love your reference to the all important “why”.

“There’s gold in them there hills”!

Do not get bigger motivation than that, just hope he gets a good run at it

Spesh that it means so much to him, I like this appointment and wish him well, liked the look of him last week, congrats wade and welcom

Demons could have picked him up for nothing this year. The one who would have been dirty is Wade. Presumably to poach a contracted player Wade would have been offered 3yrs at at significantly more than a rookies salary It would have been massive for a young man with 2 young children, only to be cut a year later.

Just have this weird feeling he could be a genuine Best 23 player for the next 4-6 years...

Can't have 20+ stars, and the little I've seen of this bloke gives me a lot of confidence he'll turn out to be one of those solid role players that can plug-and-play a few different positions as needed. I don't see him as depth at the moment - he'll hold his own down back while Dean and HOF are continuing to develop, and he could easily swing forward to play as a foil for Harry once the young blokes are settled in down back.

Looks a confident and decisive kick which will help the set ups massively.

Good luck young man, glad you finally got there. Obviously has been quite stressful on him trying to get a contract.

3 kids at 24 ?

#2 and #3 are twins.

Blessing or a curse....you decide :P

I am struggling to get my head around it. My youngest son is the same age, is living at home and just got his first real job.

Just watched the 4 minute interview on the Carlton website.

What an awesome level headed person. I love how emotional he is and thrilled that he took the 4 day drive from Darwin to join us.

Enjoyed his highlights too. Watches the ball well and doesn't panic.

Go well fella.

This could be succession planning for McGovern too if Wade can show he is AFL standard
