For a start i would prefer Walla and Fanta forward and he has been better than Gleeson all year. Not sure why you would not want to draft a player who has played all games this year at a pretty good standard and is still young. In a lot of ways he is a better bet than an unproven kid later in the draft. Is certainly better that Aaron Heppell.

I agree (aside from Gleeson, long term i would rather Gleeson if we could only have one).

Just throwing it out there. It's likely Dea will be a depth recruit on the fringe of the side next year, which is fine, just might not get him as cheap as we'd want for that role.

Gets turned inside out too much for mine. Tory Dickson ran him a merry dance at the start of yesterdays game.

Solid enough to be decent depth but foot soldier depth isn't going to get us where we need to go. With Baguley back, Francis getting games and the big guys we can't afford to have a mid range dude who can't penetrate.

We need a few runners from defence and if our half back line wasn't a basket case now that Hibberd has left he'd be lucky to get a gig.

He's definitely played himself into a contract next year.

question is what pick would we use on him to make sure nobody picks him up ahead of us. I'm thinking 4th round

he'd be gone before that. AMT will be our last pick as a rookie upgrade.

If Kelly stays the 2 picks before AMT would be Dea and Kelly

he'll be a 25yr old half back that has had a one decent season for a side that finished last after getting dropped by richmond he should be there at the 6th round.

gone you'd assume are:

hibbard(trade)
ashby(delist)
dempsey(delist)
pears(retire)
cooney(retire)
edwards(delist)
j.merrett(dropped to the rookie list)
kommer(delist)
hams(delist)
gwilt(delist)
mckernan(delist)

of the top ups lets say we keep dea and kelly and then upgrade tippa so we should have 7 list spots available and you wouldn't waste a pick before the 6th round for someone who might not even get picked up if we dont get him

Thought I would come here rather then the main board. Personally I think this is good news. I think the AFLPA have got it right because this is directly the top up players welfare at stake as opposed to trying to be advantageous to Essendon.

Dea has been good this year, and I reckon on form will be top 22 next year. You guys are lucky, but for Dea and the other players it is fair.

I think all the supporters from other clubs will think this is brilliant news. This concession and maybe a 1st round priority pick should help us back on our feet. A stronger Essendon is good for the whole competition. [emoji3]

Not sure that all Carlton and Collingwood supporters would be all that happy with any concessions given to a drug cheating arch rival that helps them to leapfrog their club into the top 8.
