One of the Eagles' many success stories from the rookie draft, Nicoski made his debut in 2004 and became a fixture in the senior side in 2005, playing 21 games including the grand final. He caught fans' attention with his blonde hair, great pace and booming left foot kick.

Sadly for Nicoski, his development stalled after he broke his ankle against Hawthorn at the MCG in round 14, 2006. Although he played in a WAFL premiership for Subiaco that year in a desperate attempt to prove his fitness for the AFL grand final the following week, he was ultimately unsuccessful and watched from the stands as his teammates pipped Sydney by a point.

His horror luck on the injury front continued throughout 2007, with a shoulder injury and an infected foot limiting him to just 5 games for the season. He returned to full fitness in 2008 and played 19 games but struggled to regain the form he showed early in his career.

With another full pre-season under his belt and with his bad luck hopefully in the rear-view mirror, expect 2008 to be the year Mark Nicoski shows everyone just what he can be.

Fingers and toes he finds his form of 06. A real talent that could win us a premiership if he gets his confidence up.

Nico played pretty well in the Collingwood match, was one of our better players on the day (not that that was a difficult achievement :o)

Looking forward to seeing more some dashing run off half-back during the pre-season.

Hoping he can stay injury free & keep string some quality games together! He is such an important player for us & a Top Bloke to.

I don't know if you remember Nicco's form in 06 before he broke his ankle in Rd14 against Hawthorn @ the MCG, but he was in top form playing at half-back.

His best is sensational, just needs confidence and not to turn the ball over.

He may get a lot of the ball, but every kick he gets goes to the opposition. Hurn has to take his spot running of the HB line.

2 problems with that theory

1. Hurn doesn't get much of the ball
2. Nico's been our best runner out of defence this preseason (and the end of last season too)

Agree heartily with this.

But why does your sig say you're Nico's sponsor? I thought I was:confused:

Fight you for him!

Nicoski, who looked close to his rebounding best after a string of savage injuries, expressed deep disappointment at the team’s inability to again dry up a flood of goals in a short period, a factor which haunted them in their 2008 season from hell.

“It’s just disappointing again that there was a period there where we let them back into the game and it’s ended up costing us,” the defender said.

“It’s something we have to look at during the week to make sure against Port Adelaide (at Subiaco Oval next Sunday) it’s a different story.

“Last year we put the drop in intensity down to having a younger side in, but there was really no excuse for it. We had close to our strongest 22 in and if I could put my finger on it, I’d be a good senior coach.

“The match committee are looking at it closely, but it’s something that has to be player-driven on the field as well if guys are maybe going into their shells.

“We just need everyone playing their role when a run-on like that happens and that will quell the damage to a degree. It’s cost us the game after it was a big problem last year.

“It’s something the players need to take on board, especially at training, because if you’re not training to 100 per cent you’re not going to play to 100 per cent.”

I thought Nicoski was good last week, but got flogged today on Motlop. At times he wasn't committing 100%- we need more 1%'s from him.

If Wilkes is progressing I think it'd be in Nicoski's best interests to find form for Subi.

Got taught a football lesson on Milne. Needs to step it up.

Mark is a very overrated player imo. I think he should stick to what he's good at, sucking ****.
