Well its now six months down the track since September 11 and have things changed for you.
Does what happened still worry you and do you now have second thoughts about travelling in an aircraft?
Also where abouts were you when you first heard about what had happened and where were you when it actually was happening?

For me,things really havent changed as much as they probably have for others, i havent been on a plane since but thats because i never usually do anyway. If i had the chance to fly somewhere then i would take it without a second thought to possible high-jackings.
I was actually on bigfooty at the time that it happened when Bluey posted that a plane had hit the world trade center in this thread. I then turned it over to channel 10 news just before the second plane hit and then was captivated for most of the night.

i saw some footage from i beleive it was some french people who were making a documentary on the new york fire brigade(?)(perhaps one of our american friends can clear this up)
Anyways, the footage from it is pretty shocking with debris falling around them and smoke and haze just everywhere inside the building.
this thread is mostly just to remember those who died on that fateful day

When you say have...do you mean haven't???

Nothing major has changed for me, well, not yet anyway.

If you're reading the actual thread from sep 11 like I am you can sense the dfference in threads as it goes along. eg. humour turn to fear and then anger.

By the way I've only been on a plane twice in my life (launceston and back when I was 10) but am hoping to go to Adelaide to watch us play Port this year.

Saw it on the late news. Watched it a bit. Went to bed. Came in to work and everyone was watching CNN. All promos/programs featuring aeroplanes/terrorists/explosions or explosive devices were pulled. Talked about where in Sydney you'd go for if you were going to do the same here. The MCG also came up as a possibility for symbolism.

Hasn't really affected me, except for the continued cheapish airfares.

I am moving on with my life just as I have after many other disasters much worse than September 11

I am getting a bit sick about the US going on about it actually.

That many people every day are still dying of starvation in Africa and there are many wars and conflicts still going on that need to be stopped, just as much as terrorism agains the US needs to be stopped.

Insurance premiums have gone up thats about the only affect.

I am flying to England in August and have no fears whatsoever about flying. More danger of being killed by a rabid Port supporter at Footy Park during Showdown!! :D

By the way I am still spewing over the fact that I went to bed 17 minutes before the attacks started. I can't believe I missed the defining moment of our lifetimes because I went to bed after Stingers finished. I found out the next morning via the morning paper which we get delivered and as I walked into the kitchen (I slept in) I read all the sport pages about Lloyd and Lynch getting suspended, etc coz the paper was that way. It wasn't until I dropped the paper on the floor that it hit me. My mind said (truthfully) "This is not good". Wednesday morning classes were so strange and the double computers from 9-10.30 was committed totally to CNN and NBC and sites like that. You could basically hear the whole school listening to Bush's talk and at that moment you could hear reality hit kids. You still can't believe it happened. Hopefully they build bigger and better and stick it up Bin Laden (does anyone believe that he is still alive???)

Prayers are with all concerned still and will remain that way

Touche. I agree with you. Insurance companies are using Sept 11th as an excuse to rip us off, I am sick of hearing about the US and its woes when that country has caused so much heartache for other countries. It's time the US found out they are not the center of the universe and there are other countries in more dire need than themselves.

Bush Jnr is looking for an excuse to have a war with other countries. Typical self centered US Southerner.

There is a documentary on SBS tonight called Letter to America, it shows both sides of the story and though the radicals in the Mid East are to blame as well, its interesting to see their side of the story as well. Like it or not, the US are a bunch of arrogant people.

I remember following the coverage on Foxtel and it was something you just never forget. It certainly hit home with me... even thinking about it now is very hard for me. :(

I found out the morning after, because I went to bed early. Turned on the news in the morning and thought I had the movie channel on, because I saw a plane flying through the world trade centre. But they'd already started the coverage.
It hasn't really affected me in any way, other than of course feeling sorry for the victims and their families.
I'd have no hesitation jumping on a plane... nor would I have had any hesitation jumping on a plane a few days after Sep 11. What happens, happens, and I'm not going to let something like that run the way in which I live.

just watching 10 news at the moment where they are showing the twin beams of light that are being shown into the night sky where the twin towers once stood

Not much has changed for me personnally. I've been on a flight to New Zealand since then and didn't really have any worries.
For the first time yesterday, I saw the live footage from Fox News Channel. That is, when it actually happened with all the reporters and the confusion. It seemed like so surreal and it's just hard to believe all that actually happened.
What's begginning to bother me though is that Bush is begginning to form a plan to attack Iraq and all those other 'axis of evil' countries. I just get the feeling this isn't going to go all Americas way.

I remember Blueys thread on this too, where he thought it was only a small plane. The next post was by someone who joked that he/she hoped it might've hit Lleyton Hewitt. Then as the second plane hit, the shocking reality set in.

Not one thing has changed for me.

I was over a friends house that night having a few drinks and playing some pool....then i drove home...as soon as i opened the door my dad said "f*ck quick, come have a look at this...some planes have just hit the trade center". The planes would of hit during the 10 minute trip home.
Was pretty scary watching it all occur....seeing the buildings collapse etc.
Didnt get much sleep that night...was wierd being quite scared even tho this was happening round the other side of the planet.
Having said all that....life hasnt been any different!

You sleep in the kitchen Little Mikey?

:D

I remember that night, not least because I was up all night watching it, and actually didn't get any sleep, but because I had a Biology Prac that morning, but Prac etiquette went out the window. The TV was on, I had my walkman on, listening to the coverage, and I wasn't the only one. Somehow I pulled an A+ out of my rear end but that's not the point. I remember the next few weeks being interesting, not just at school, but everywhere you went. People just had glum looks on their faces.

Other than that I can't remember much changing in my life, in hindsight much less than I expected it to be. I was already pretty **** scared on flying, so it really didn't help, but needless to say it has woken most of the world up to the dangers of lax security. However, I have been shocked by the lack of security at the footy in the last few weeks. I haven't had my bag checked yet (not a bad thing either ;) )

I remember watching Talking Footy, and the last ad break came on with the newsreader saying one plane had accidently flown into the World Trade Center. Talking Footy ended, I switched the TV off, and turned the radio on as I went to bed. Then they mentioned a second had hit, and that it must have been terrorism.

So I turned on the TV, turned off the radio, and logged on here. There were about a zillion threads with screaming titles, and I remember talking to Macca and others whil watching it. Then the buildings collapsed, I woke mum, and I watched it until the early hours of the morning, before getting little sleep and going to school, where of course it was the only talk that went on.

However, apart from that night, and the following day, it hasn't affected me much.
