deep purple in rock should be rated as well as machine head imo.

interesting how most of the albums mentioned were recorded and released and then backed up by recording another album. there was more of an urgency than today it seems.

take deep purple:
in rock - aug 69 - may 70
fireball sep 70 - june 71
machine head - 6/12/71 - 21/12/71.

striking while the iron is hot indeed. Ironic how a band like jet or wolfmother model themselves on this era in music but faff around so much with follow up albums.
 
Huge fan of that era, went through a phase back in my stoner Uni days where we used to listen to 60's and 70's music almost exclusively.

Love a lot of the stuff already mentioned, although so far it's been a bit UK centric. There's a few American classics from that era that have been overlooked.
