At the risk of appearing uncool, you're not on your Pat Malone, Swanny.
In 2001 I bet a slab with couple of mates on whether the Tiges or Hawks finished higher on the ladder at the end of the year. As we both made the prelim, this was disputed by both parties.
To solve the dispute, I emailed Rohan Connolly at The Age to ask if he could adjudicate. I never received a response.
After a week or so I emailed Mike Sheahan. Mike replied with a nice email and awarded me the beers.
I have respected him ever since and, while I don't always agree with everything he says, I generally think his writing is pretty well balanced.

Yeah agree. He comes out with crap of course from time to time, but that has a lot to do with the volume of articles he is required to produce. Certainly not the worst of them.
