Yeah, relocation in England would work well, not.

Look at Wimbledon when they relocated to Milton Keynes - the fans just started up a new club (AFC Wimbledon).
They'll relocate an underperforming side in this comp like an Olympiakos or Arsenal just for an example to a US city in a heartbeat

Arsenal was what, 100 years ago?

Try doing it now.

Ideally they want a league that is a travelling circus.

Man United v Real Madrid in New York one week
Man United v Juventus in Beijing

It's not a European super league if it's just English teams.

Who do they think they are?
Probably got the idea from Rummenige and his plans to give wildcards to teams with "history".

Yep this is exactly what this league will do. These clubs will be franchises based wherever the money wants them to be based

Not a fan of the current system, the Champions league should be just that, no way should you be in the comp for finishing 3rd or 4th in your domestic comp

Yeah, although at least the Top 2. Chuck 3-5 in the Euro League.

Pretty sure in the A-League the 2 Grand Finalists go to the ACL?

FWIW I'd love Champions League to be champions only, straight knockout (home and away) with no seeding, country exclusions, TV matchups etc. Same with the Europa League although maybe could have a couple of teams from each association.

Never happen unfortunately.

What happens if the A League GF winner comes from outside the top 3? Do they get a spot as well?
1 spot for regular season Premier
1 spot for Grand final winner ( if winner is the same as premier then the runner up in GF goes through)
1 spot for the next highest finisher

You'd adjust rankings to allow for finals results. Eg the team that finished "third" then becomes "first" or "second" depending on the GF.

Like how in 2005 and 2012 when Sydney Swans were AFL premiers, they finished "third" but then finished "first" because they were premiers.

Man United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Barca, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Bayern Munich, PSG, Porto and Ajax guaranteed places according to English and German press.

Two qualifiers from England, Italy, Germany, Spain and France.

Quite amusing that the guaranteed places were amongst the biggest names pushing for FFP in the interests of "fairness".

Theres probably still a few that believe in them, but I think most now can see that self interest was the only reason.

It's just the biggest supporter bases. Blatant cash grabbing. Not a fan even though my club is one mentioned. I've mentioned before English football is their own worst enemy in terms of underperforming in Europe. Just too many games and too busy over Christmas when the likes of German clubs have a breather. The EPL's strongest selling point in terms of unpredictability in most games also hurts the clubs in the long run.

Part of me thinks a proper closed shop European League is somewhat inevitable at some point, be it in 10 or 30 years. It's economic reality I think, just like the premier league was.

If they want to break away and do it well so be it I guess, they can't be stopped. Many will wither on the vine with zero success, if eg Liverpool have never been able to win the Premier League, they're sure as hell never going to win a league against those same big English clubs plus Real, Barca, PSG and Bayern thrown in.

There'd be positives. It would clearly seperate the money circus from the actual football. PL standard would drop but be more even. UEFA comps could perhaps be correct, a Champions League for the league champions and a UEFA Cup for the cup winners.

Hearing talks of this going on, but with just the winner of each European league in the top 16 in the confederation..
What's this?! A Champions League that, gasp, actually has only Champions in it, and none of this big club crap?! Yes, now that's proper good stuff that! I don't want to see the 3rd placed German team take on the 4th placed Spanish team, I want to see the Belgan champions teach the Dutch Champion a proper lesson on lowland football!

Make that the top tier of competition!
