A few retirements today

Wasn't anywhere i could really put this so i figured i'd just start a thread for it.

A few big retirements today and yesterday, three well nown horses have been retired to stud.

Manhattan Rain - I figure that connections realised he was losing stud value everytime he went around so they pulled the pin

O'Lohnro - Really struggling of late so not a bad idea i guess.

Von Costa De Hero - Ended up with bung knees. One of the most overhyped milk drinkers we have is now retired. Probably could have won the 08 slipper, but since then is the first horse you cross a line through when it races.

Pretty sure I read a Waterhouse quote in todays paper saying Manhattan Rain is going along nicely and looking for 1600-2000 and just knocked up on the weekend and was already being entered for Saturday ........................................... She's a stupid thing

Looks like some of us will never get that $$ back from VCDH.

At least I finally got off a little before some other poor saps. How different it would've been if that slipper went the other way.

Thats a shame, Manhattan Rain always added some value to the races.

will miss O'Lonhro as I always seemed to be on the right side of the money He used to win everything for me early in his career and later on his inclusion seemed to boost the odds of more likely winners

I am shattered.

I just saw my greyhound take a massive fall and now this

From what i heard is they retired manhattan rain as to get it back to its best (2nd or 3rd best 3yo in the country) they would of had to have gelded it. So they took the cash option and sent it to stud.

I don't see what the hate on manhattan rain is all about. At its best the only better 3yo around was so you think. Its a group one winner at 2 and has never been out of the placings at group 1 level

Von Costa was one of the biggest cats of all time.

Although I did back him when he won the Sires and as a 2 year old, then was very grateful when he didn't catch Sebring in the Slipper.

Because they are talking it up as a future stallion for breeding purposes

Fact is it s a good solid horse Manhattan Rain but miles off being a superstar
