Question who are our A graders?

The best teams have 6+ on what i count that being Geelong and St Kilda. And a star who is in the top 5 or so in the comp.

Geelong

-Ablett++
-Bartel
-Selwood
-Harry Taylor
-Paul Chapman
-Brad Ottens

St Kilda

-Riewoldt++
-Hayes
-Dal santo
-Montagna
-Goddard
-Milne

Melbourne

-Jamar
-Green

Frawley?

Our potentials i see as Scully, Trengove, Watts, Jurrah, and grimes, but it is silly to assume that they will all make the grade.

My point being do we already have the required depth on our list to be a top team in the future? also Green may or may not be in our team by the time we puch for a premiership (i hope he is), i think our depth is looking great, just asking the question because we all want Melbourne to be dominant like Geelong has been for the past 4+ years, and developing our list is going to be getting very hard over the next 2-3 drafts especially as we also move up the ladder, thoughts?

Should have included Enright and Scarlett for Geelong, maybe Stevie J but was trying to mark harshly, they arnt meant to be the talking point however.

There was only one A grader on the MCG today

Adam Goodes

Although Bolton might be borderline

Melbourne has no current player whom you can call an A Grader

The only one that might sneak into an AA team would Jamar as he made a dramatic improvement

I would expect a few young Demons to develop into A grade players though

Very good question. Currently we have 1 in Brad Green. The guys a gun and has been most of his career.

Potentially, half our best 22 could be A Graders. Based on what I've seen this year, the following players have the potential to be elite:

Frawley
Grimes
Scully
Trengove
Jamar
Davey
Jurrah
Watts
Sylvia
Morton

This is not to say any of them will become A Graders. I just feel they all have the potential to become A Graders. Consistency is the key. A Grade players week in week out play close to there best. Based on that, Frawley and Jamar are the closest to moving up to A Grade. Davey is another who is close. The rest need time and consistency but IMO, have the potential.

We also have Petterd and Gysberts who in years to come could also go close. And from all reports, Blease, Tapscott and Gawn have qualities about them that could move them onto this list. But it's all speculation after a big win isn't it. We could also have 0 from this list who becomes A Graders. AIn a few seasons time we will obviously know more, but knowing we have plenty of potential A Graders coming through is highly exciting.

Almost there
Green
Davey
Jamar

Top level: Ablett, Riewoldt, Judd
Scully
Trengove
Watts
Frawley
Sylvia
Grimes

Almost elite/Brownlow winning, but always outshone/underrated:Kerr, Hayes, Corey
Morton
Petterd
Gysberts
Jurrah
Wonna

Very serviceable:<Will think of example later>
Garland
Bartram
Bail
Tapscott
Maric

You just need potential A graders and you have plenty. Impossible to predict because their are always the surprise improvers and the big disappointments.

Grimes, Frawley, Scully, Trengove and Watts look like having the potential to become superstars. Davey and Sylvia might just stay as they are, which is decent B graders who have A grade games occasionally.

Watts looks like he might be able to mould into one of those mid/fwd type roles because most of his best work has been done in the middle over the past few weeks.

Sticky with Taylor and ottens, Geelong made a big play for ottens (otherwise their Ruck would be Blake......) Taylor won them the grandfinal last year with the effort he put in on Riewoldt.... the mark in the last term.
I said i was harsh and it is my opinion but think that he hasnt been as consistent this season...just me and he was 90% their

I'm almost certain that Scarlett is an A-grader. One of the best defenders ever.

and god damn watts is quick

Jamar is an A grader this year. So is Green. I'd pretty much consider any AA player to be an A grader. Frawley and Davey would be close.

I think we round out the real depth in the next 2-3 drafts with a few more first round picks. It does depend on the ceilings of current players that are improving of course, but with another 2 or 3 first rounders even if they a little bit further back in the compromised draft will add some real depth I think.
