Why do you continually play across halfback at the beginning of games to the detriment of our team. When you finally pull your finger out and push forward we look a much better team.

Your best work is done forward of centre. We have a team full of capable defenders. We have very few attacking midfielders.

Please, please stay forward or at least play an attacking role in the midfield.

RANT OVER

Surely that would be a coaching thing, right?

So the coach would have done it, right? Belly would have been following orders...

yeah i agree peter bell doesn't look like he likes chris c.

i dont think peter and chris get on well.

i dont know for a fact but i assume this. I cant see why belly would like CC.

I think Bell thinks he is smarter than CC. Whether that is the case is up for debate.

He'll have been told to "firefight" by playing off the half back line.

If Belly doesn't get on with people just because he's smarter than them then he's not going to have many friends in football.

Supposedly Bell doesn't even like being in the same room as CC.

Two options when senior players don't like or respect the coach, sack the coach or do what Blight did to the blokes who were white-anting Robert Shaw at the Crows. We all know where Adelaide ended up after that.

I can't imagine any coach being able to do that, except Blighty.

And even He copped a fair bit from it. The 1997 flag nipped the unrest in the bud though.

Well MM cleaned out guys like Malaxos when he got to West Coast, so its not unheard of. If senior players are undermining the coach (i'm not even referring to Bell, could be anyone) they need to go or the coach does.

Gary Ayres did the hatchet job at both Geelong and Adelaide. Left both clubs at their lowest ebb for a long time.

Regardless of who is coaching us next year we will be minus a few "stars", or at least crowd favourites. Parker, Cook and MacManus will be gone surely.

Shauny Mac still has some legs left in him, plus hes on the veteran's list. Hell he almost chased down that speedster from Geelong last week (kosinski?) when our resident athlete Walker couldn't.

Wojinski (I think).

There would be worse things than still having MacManus on our list, but Parker has done the one year too many thing. Being on the veteran's list is only really of much value if the player is on big bucks like Cousin's will be. Ideally as part of a back-ended contract. If MacManus is given another year I would have thought he'd be on a pretty basic contract already so saving half of it won't mean too much. Otherwise he is in the squad in place of a Rookie List player, which I think is a shame.

Walker should have been on my hit list too.

So, you would like the club to delist Headland at the end of this contract? Seriously?

I would drop Headland to the WAFL and tell him that he is welcome back at AFL level when he shows the level of commitment and hardness that every other club in the league would require. I would tell him that the Freo football does not consider him an automatic selection. I don't doubt Headland's potential. Infact I think he has some huge upsides. I just think we need someone to lay down the law to him, and tell him that his recent efforts are just not acceptable, and never will be!

Drop him to the WAFL for a couple of weeks, and bring him back to the AFL, and you can almost guarntee he'll have a blinder the first week he is back, because his arrogance and ego will damaged. He'll suddenly understand he is not an automatic selection, and he needs to lift his comitment. The problem will then be that 2 weeks later we are back to square one with him. I don't know how to get through to him, but if he can't consistantly play at the level we all KNOW he can play at, given the proper incentives, then yes we need to delist him.

So, at the moment he is our leading kick-getter (while being tagged, and in the case of Geelong they brought Rooke in specifically to play on Headland), and with 16 tackles he is way above the team average of 6.

Who is the player you are planning on replacing him with exactly?

That would mean playing a player who can consistantly play at a level beneath what Headland can on an off day.

Man, you've been running the "leading kick-getter" line into the ground. So what if he is, half his kicks are from running behind a guy after he took a mark and getting the handball "dish off". Rooke into the team to play on Headland is nonsense, i don't know where you got that from. You don't specifically bring in a player to play on a guy who was averaging 12 possessions in his last couple of games.

I would replace him with someone who shows a more commitment than Headland. Webster should be getting a game infront of Headland. Its not even about who we can replace him with. He sets a bad example to the rest of the team with his lazy, unaccountable, downhill-skiing football. He has gone missing in every single final the Dockers have played. He is not a required player, and there are plenty of other players out there who can do a better job than Des does.

So that's it? Your suggestion is Webster ... Well he is already in the team.

I got the idea about Rooke being brought in to play on Headland from Thompson's post match interview. Who tagged Webster? No-one at all, in fact he is in there to work as a defender. There is no way he would be asked to take on Headland's role because he does not have the skill or speed.

It doesn't matter who is it, Webster is just a good example because he plays tough, committed football. Someone like Shauny Mac is worth 10 Des Headlands because he puts his body on the line and plays the kind of football that purists of the game like to see. Not the type of game Des plays where he gets cheap kicks, hangs off the pack like a seagull and takes low percentage shots at goal.
