hey guys, i was wondering what do u think about Shattock's performances for u guys, on the games i have seen him, he seems to giving u guys the same service as he gave to Brisbane. He needs to step up a bit though.

hE has more game time and picked up alot more touches than he ever did at Brisbane. Disposal lets him down at times, but hes fit and good size so hes a good "squad player". Not in our best 22 IMO

Seems a bog standard AFL player at the minute. Nothing particularly exceptional or reliable about his game.

hes one of those players that M williams likes to pick up and think he can turn them into something. You have a heap of them now. Basically average types, bit like P walsh. Shattock played some games with the eagles and wasnt anything special. Brisbane did well to get something for a guy thats 24 and dones nothing. Only thing that would help them is prehaps finding out what brisbanes special program is that manages to get some of their players so big.

I'm trying to make up my mind.
During the pre-season I met someone from the club socially who described him as an 'angry young man'. He played like it too. Reckless, pointless attacks on the ball which saw him hit the turf with no chance for a second effort. Pointless disposals to players under pressure. Unforced clangers. Aggressive behaviour to opponents which was pointless as he was ineffective himself.
But I reckon he is turning that around now. He is beginning to play like you'd expect a guy who'd occassionally cracked a gig in the great Brisbane teams of recent years to play. He was competent and useful last week against Essendon, well for the final three quarters anyway. Obviously we expect more than that from him and he'd do well to look at the form and attitude of Peter Walsh who we recruited from the Demons.

Started off extremely poorly but has improved with each outing and at the moment his last few games for us have been pretty good.

Hoorah, finally someone else sees it.

I realise the majority of the team was ordinary today, but on three or four occasions he exhibited the glaring deficiency in his game.

On and off the ball he is a plodder who takes too long to make a decision, and when he does, more often than not it is the wrong one and he either misses his target or sells a teammate into trouble.

I don't think any of his disposals went forward today, every kick and handpass I saw went to a player behind him.
Hope he is on a year by year contract.

Porthos and DT have summed it up best.

He is not a player capable of contributing to a top 4 side, let alone a flag. Note the word contributing, because there are often players (eg Cochrane) who get taken along for the ride and everyone scratches their heads wondering why or how?

Ask yourselves, what does he offer us that we are grateful for?

Does he tag and nullify opponents? NO
Does he run and break lines? No
Does he chase down opponents from behind and create turnovers? No
Does he leave behind opponents really hurting? No
Does he kick goals? No
Can we happily and confidently play him in the centre square? No

What the flip, is his role in the side right now, that has people believing he should play in front of a youngster? Who actually thinks he increases our chance of winning? Who finds themselves feeling confident when he runs to a contest or wins the footy in our back half?

Not I, little red hen! Not I. :(
