well its pretty simple really, i only started having sex at an age where i would have been mature enough to handle having a baby

Doesn't matter how old you are - just use contraception. In all seriousness, if your friend is having unprotected sex with strangers off the internet, I'd reckon having an abortion would be the least of her health worries.

Spide, it's not that simple. Age and maturity have nothing to do with it. If you don't want an unplanned pregnancy then use contraception. There are a lot of methods available, so there is really no excuse for not using it. It's pretty easy to go to the supermarket and buy a packet of condoms.

Saturday mornings when I drive along Wellington Parade, I find it extremely hard for my car not to veer off and clean up all those religious zealots who haunt the front of abortion clinics. Some days there is at least 200 of them.

As if making the decision isn't hard enough, those poor girls have to deal with bible bashers abusing them and showing them graphic pictures. How it's not considered loitering or trespassing is beyond me... It's this kind of thing that makes a backyard job seem like a good option.

Fair enough comment, abortion IS a serious issue.

Originally posted by Spidergirl~RiCkChiCk in the pedophile threadI used to always play up at the school a street or two up and a peda lived directly opposite. They dug his old house up when he went off to jail or whatever plus there was a well known rapist who used to live in our house.

Makes it all the more fun living here

Hey hang on, pedophiles are a damn serious issue also, having double-standards is not a clever choice Spidey.

i dont appreciate smartarse comments on this issue but then again i wouldn't expect all men to understand they just help cause it!

And who was the skank who met him on the net and opened her legs? Works both ways you know. Sounds like your friend is a fool for doing what she did, so I think she is to blame and must accept her mistakes.

And not only that, you also admit she may do it again and you blame guys for her immaturity and desperation.

You really have some growing up to do and need to look at life from all points of view, not just your own sex.

That's kind of true, but then again it sounds like she's pretty low on confidence and self-belief anyways, which is why she does this, so it's hardly going to help her if the guy just ignores her when she might actually need some help. I mean whether you've got pregnant from a fling with someone you hardly know or in my case, with someone you've been in a long-term relationship with, it still doesn't make it any easier to deal with if they turn their back when you have such an important thing to deal with, which is a child that TWO PEOPLE helped to create. And it IS something that sometimes men have trouble understanding.

I don't think the guy should be fully blamed in this situation, but I don't think it's right to be amazingly harsh on the girl in this case because if people start telling her she's to blame and she's this and that then the odds are that she'll just do it all over again.

The best thing her close friends can do for her right now is just be there for her, not to judge her but gently guide her and give her a bit of confidence and if it's at all possible, get her some counselling but only if she's open to it.

BTW, paedophilia is not just some issue for overprotective fathers.

Exactly. It's an issue for most of society, and I know that as a Nanny/Child Care worker it concerns me too.

What a great ****ing attitude. You think stronger about an issue simply because it relates to one of your friends?!
At least an abortion can be performed with reasonable safety and is done most times with complete consent of the woman involved, and usually they are able to move on with their lives because it has been their own choice.
The victim of a pedaphile has their lives ruined forever, but if you don't know them it can't be that bad?

Your views are ****ed up.

abortion shouldn't be illegal - it would force everyone into these backyard places which would be nothing but bad.

update on my friend for those who offered advice

After trying to con and get back with the guy who got her preg the first time (aborted) once the internet guy who got her preg this time didn't want a bar of it.

Found out she was having twins one died and she got the other aborted last week!

:( I just went through this a few months ago. Was the hardest decision ive ever had to make in my life! I wanted the baby so much, but in the end I had to choose my family! Mum told me if i didnt do it she wanted nothing more to do with me :(

Was the worst experience in my whole life and im still not over it. I still cry about it.... I feel sorry for anyone that has to go through with having an abortion. I guess its ok If you feel strongly about not wanting one. But being basicaly forced into having one is horrible!!

I hope you friend is ok!! and I hope that she made the right decision.. she should be fine as well :) I think the problems start when you have HEAPS! I was worried about having just one.. but im fine...

I think if you're in a position where you're having "heaps" of abortions, there are problems there to begin with.

Yeah even if you think you're ready for it there's lots of doubt afterwards isn't there. I mean in my case I didn't really have a choice, my baby girl was more than likely not going to survive...... I mean I DID have a choice but why prolong the inevitable. Still doesn't make it any easier to deal with, especially when others sit round with their kids and say "well I didn't do it and look at MY baby" and stuff, which I believe is unfair. I didn't have anyone forcing me into it which I am grateful for, and if I'd been told she'd be happy and healthy I would have kept her for sure.

Oh and Spidey thanks for letting us know how your friend is going, I've been wondering. :)

Some people were just not meant to be parents, and at least your parents, your friend's and Becca's can see this.
