abusive supporters

I am writing this to get rid of the anger that I have after yesterdays game. The anger is not coz we lost it is because of the abusive supporters and ungrateful supporters that we have. Yesterday I felt embarrassed! THe lack of support that our boys received was appaulling.
Yesterday was the first time I sat with the social club members and let me tell you it will be the last! Behind me were 3, 25yo's who dressed in their designer clothes proceeded to abuse all the boys and their efforts. They abused them like I have never heard before! THey knew nothing about football, they didnt even know how to clap Jon Hay's 70m goal!
NOt only were there these supporters but I thought that supporters everywhere around the ground were very quiet! I think that people have been having a great time since we won our first 8 games. Everyone has jumped on the band wagon but yesterday I saw witnessed a couple of hundred people jump off just because we lost. For god's sake teams do lose a game here or there and I think that the least thing people could have done at yesterdays game was support the little things the boys did right!
THis also includes the cheer squad! They may as well not been there yesterday, there lack of support was disgusting.
Everyone yesterday seemed to forget that port a bloody good side and the better team won on the day but I still believe that we as supporters should support the boys and not just scream abuse at them!

Couldn't agree more, i was arguing with negative supporters all day about the team. Sure we were pathetic yesterday but we are still 8-2 and all teams have 'off-days'

Didnt surprise me in the slightest. But my view is that every club in the leagues has about a 50% supporter base that whenever the slightest thing goes wrong, LIVES for that moment they can turn on their own.

Why they do it, i have no idea but i see enough of it every week i go to the footy. Either its Hawks fans after a loss, or the other mob (whomever it may be that week) after we have just won.

Human nature at its worst.

Interestingly enough, Saturday was the first time I have sat in the dedicated Hawthorn members area (red seats bottom level of the Olympic stand).

If the people who inhabited that area are our members then God (read Hay ) help us. The abuse from the start was bad enough but the lack of support in any form was astounding.

It was a terrible game and a very ordinary and disappointing effort from our boys but no Hawthorn players deserves the treatment some got from some of our members on Saturday. I couldn't believe it when Dixon copped a spray as he ran around the boundary line, he was far from the worst out there.

The Hawks aren't alone with having negative supporters, every team has them. At the Bombers Weagles game I nearly punched out the guy sitting next to me, because he just bagged the players non stop & never once applauded good play & we won that day, would hate to be near him if we were losing.

Any time that I feel even remotely close to abusing one of our players, I remeber what it was like back in the mid to late '90's period when we were playing badly, lucky to kick 10 goals a match and languishing near the bottom of the ladder, sitting on the cold hard seats at Waverley getting splinters in the @ss and freezing the remainder of my @ss off (god rest its sole), watching another pathetic flogging..........and all urge to abuse disappears

Nothing this season could be as bad or depressing as some of matches which us real supporter endured back then......

The other question people need to ask themselves is - could you do any better than these guys are????

The answer would be NO!..........BUT they are getting paid ridiculous amounts of money to play, it's there job. Don't get me wrong though i'm not condoning the sh!tful behaviour

well i know i am a true supporter as when jon hay kicked that FANTASTIC goal i was 10 metres of the ground jumping in joy as i thought that might have been spark for the boys.
anyways i am very sick and tired of supporters bagging the team 2, for starters those bandwagon jumpers have definantly jumped off, and i was sitting next to group of people (in the members) and they had nothing positive to say about any of the players, they just sat there and bagged them. so i moved over to the cheer squad (supporters group) but i tell ya what they weren't any better, they are a disgrace, if they wanna call themselves the supporter group then they would wanna actually support.

Ok so the performance was ******** house but no need to start baggin players and officials.....
i agree with hazel_rules Port are a good side and they have improved alot and everyone knows it.
We are a GREAT side when we actually have all areas of our game working and untill we work that out the boys need to know they have the support of there supporters!!!!!

So people support... DONT BAG...

go the hawks... stick it up geelong this week!!!!

i tells ya it was the crowd support

look i feel the negativity starts and ends form the cheer squad...they just sit there arms crossed and show no support...port power had there supporters up on there feet cheering nearly everything...the boundary throw ins all you can hear is port power, port power...look toward the squad in the southern stand and they are all there arms crossed and sitting there. No wonder thay call themselves the supporters club as they arent doing any cheering hence the name cheer has been taken out of there name...Lift your game peoples...it always seems to be yous that are not enthusiastic...come on lift your game, get the boys feeling the support around the ground. they cant hear you atm ...all they can hear is the essendon supporters and the power supporters the last couple of weeks.
