Aside from paypal what would be the best way to accept US funds? Have used a currency converter to change AUD over to USD so no probs there however am assuming with money orders there is a fee to change it?

It depends upon how the funds are being paid to you. If they are wired you will get the USD sell rate less bank charges that can be up to $70. If by cheque then you will have extra costs and a long wait as the cheque has to go back to USA clearing banks and then funds wired to your bank.
I use Travelex, much cheaper than banks.
