Check it out. Just like always, Bentick is right up there in elite company. He is a tackling superstar. No matter what disclaimer you add to that, he is still a tackling superstar.

Rank Player Average
1 Lenny Hayes 7.5
2 Adam Bentick 7.2
3 Luke Ball 6.2
4 Jude Bolton 6.1

too bad there is no stat showing the result of these tackles... ie: free for, direct score assists etc... the kid, thats right kid, is a gem... disposal is something we can work on and I am sure they will, but tackling the way bentick does is something that is hard wired...

good on him and i hope he continues to silence his critics!:thumbsu:

His disposal is better than it's given credit for.

His tackles show in his contested possession count. The bloke is so underrated for the work he does in the side, and is slowly becoming invaluable to us:thumbsu:.

Hard to believe but footywire would seem to be wrong. They have his average based on 8 games not 9 (under Total they say 9?)

Hayes 64 tackles in 9 matches = 7.11
Bento 36 tackles in 5 matches = 7.2

AFL stats has Hayes at 65 tackles and them both averaging 7.2

Footywire uses Prowess Stats for their statistics, AFL uses Champions Data, I believe.

Meant to mention that in Tackle Av rankings

30th Hadley 4.5av
41st Carrots 4.1av

Am going to start a thread on all other stats but won't repeat tackles - there are some interesting ones :)

The only critics he has are on BigFooty, not at the CFC at all.

The number he wears should be any indication of that. And all the people who said he should have been dropped after Brisbane game are kidding themselves, they need to re-watch the tape and watch his defensive stoppage work on S. Black after half time.

While Benticks tackling has been good, I reckon young Gibbs has been very good as well this year. Good to see a bit more mongrel this year

i hope you were only using my comment as a basis for yours...

I am one of bentick's biggest fans purely on the basis of which he plays his football... Him, armfield, Sam Mitchell etc... the tough nuggety type blokes who play as extractors in close and love the hard contested footy... but then again that is a bias view as that was the only way I knew how to play... :o

another excellent tackler... cbf checking the stats on the afl website but from memory when reading the papers this morning he had about 10 tackles yesterday, goes well with his collingwood ten! :thumbsu:;)

I always respected AB for largely carrying our midfield in 06. However was forming the opinion that with our vastly strengthened midfield he may not play again (as first pick). Must say he has really impressed me since his return. Could be he is maturing and learning. The thing impressing me most is his improved decision making, which I thought could be a problem. He certainly has a go worthy of him now wearing the hallowed #7.
