haha clever response

:thumbsd: for me its 2 much of a risk. It could make or break your team, I think hes still carrying that injury. But then again he could become the gun he was last year so it could be an awesome pickup. But to many ifs with Goodes.

completly agree, would rather pay an extra 30k and take my chances of goodwin

if he was eligible at forward or back maybe yes....
but at centre there are so many better options even at his current price

i'm trading rodan for goodes this week i think, my other options are josh carr cooney and winderlich

mate theres no point getting any of those guys. Carr, cooney and winder are all players that are looking to be traded off for a bartel, bruce, cornes, west etc. They are players that people dont know wherther to keep or get rid of because they consistantly score 70's and 80's but arnt going up that next level. If i were you wait till you have the cash or downgrade a cash cow and get someone elite. Just my 2 cents. good luck anyway:thumbsu:

yer but rodan has peaked and i've used 12 trades already so i don't wanna use another 2

yea rodan has peaked, but i'm trading him for petterd (if he doesn't play this week), houli or someone else next week....

ahh k fair enuf its up to you. just think your taking a bit of a risk with that trade. Id probably hold on to rodan if your dead set with that but its your call. GOODLUCK!

i dont like getting players out of form, even if he is one of the best going round. Clearly there is something wrong! I think its of too big a concern that he isnt scoring well to have him in the team. Once he gets a couple of 100s together then i would think about it. Even if at that stage he is about 300k+ least u know he is finding form.

Its time to have another look at him...ESPECIALLY for SC

Not a noted dt'r coz he's quality rather than quantity...but in SC he needs no introduction.
Coming off a 97pt dt season and is off >200K in SC
Well known for his slow starts and big finishes.
Along with M Lappin and A Yze he's one of the blokes u generally assume will give u 22 rounds.
No chance of being dropped.
Starting to show good glimpses of form...just beat the current number one in-form big fella in the comp in a one-on-one (CCornes)...it hurt too.
250K-260K...what do u get for that paltry amount in the mids these days huh ?
Not carrying injury...just another slow start by the looks of it.
Playing in a team that will likely win more than they lose from here on.

Dual brownlow medallist comes complete with a dozen tanaka steak knives ....if he doesnt perform for you in the second half of the season then please feel free to use them on him.

Not saying he's a must have right now coz there's still time and the likes of Mr J Burger are coming cheap too.

Just keep an eye on him especially for SC.

I dont own him yet.

Not sure on Carr and Cooney, but I jumped on Winderlich a couple of weeks ago, and he's a keeper for me.

Scores of 101, 86, 90, 58 (first game back from injury), 118 and 90. Pretty happy with that considering the price I picked him up for.

I'd be happy with a 90+ score out of him every week.

keep in mind he only scored 5 points in the 2nd half this week!!! i only watched till half time and he was on 60. when i came home i assumed he got injured as he finished with 65.

It was reported in the paper the other day that he played a tagging role on Cornes. I didn't see the game personally but it was reported he was quite happy to do the job and not pick up too many possessions. Anyone reading that would be dead set stupid to pick him up. Unlikely he would do any sort of tagging job this week against a smaller Dogs outfit but in coming weeks I think Roos will stick with him in that role to get a bit of form back.

Consider that

Can't see the current brownlow medalist being used as a tagger on a weekly basis. I think that was only a tactic used last week as Cornes goes whereever the ball goes, so not a bad idea putting a guy that has not been finding the footy on him.

Had a good look at Goodes form in Supercoach this season. Its not the fact that he has not been finding the ball so much, its more the fact that his effectiveness has been right down.

This is his efectiveness from the past 5 weeks and his score in brackets:

Rd 4: 50% (76) 3 Clangers
Rd 5: 88% (41) 6 Clangers
Rd 6: 56% (63) 1 Clangers
Rd 7: 76% (97) 3 Clangers
Rd 8: 90% (90) 2 Clangers

Effectiveness and Clangers can largely come down to confidence. Now that his confidence is returning these two areas of his game are only going to improve and obviously the scores will rise with it.

Take into account he has also been averaging 95% game time the past 5 weeks and like someone mentioned above, he rarely misses a game.

Would be a risky trade at this stage and ideally I should wait another 2 weeks or so, but with Rischatelli performing very poorly and also under an injury cloud this week, I believe for the sake of $28,000 Goodes is a much better long term option for my team than Rischatelli.

Thoughts?

Great post...sums it up well.

He's not getting that much of it either but everything is pointing to another "Brownlow hangover" of form that history shows can take awhile to snap out of. Confidence is down for some silly reason and Roos has even alluded to being miffed that he needs to shake a cpl of off-field issues. Decision making has been poor and execution the same.

The reson i brought this thread back up is coz he's STILL just sitting there on the stats list and sometimes we lose sight of potential value and everyone will be chasing others...there's always a chase for CURRENT FORM guns who's form can reverse and head south just as easily as it can remain good...often it is team performance based...a good team going well and the big name mids (and fwds in particular) can rack up the numbers. CONFIDENCE is a handy thing to have in all sport.

The game against Cornes was just what he needed...despite the fact it hurt a lot of our teams. The players picked the team for that game and no doubt agreed Goodes would take their most lethal weapon and form player....he beat him in an old fashioned one-on-one that didnt get enough coverage on the tele....ordianrily that sort of match up would be something we want to see but there wasnt much said about it.

Is it a sign of a return to form ?...with the form Cornes is in its hard to argue against but as noted there is still plenttyyyyyyyy of time to decide on him.

Everyone should add up the positives and negatives on all players for the second half of the season before buying them....the only negative i can currently see on Goodes is form...we saw Goodwin reverse it in one round after being cheap.

One of the big question marks on Goodes' early form was whetehr he was carrying niggles which he normally plays through. Looks like he isnt therefore he is back on my radar.

Doesnt rack up a huge amount but 18-25 touches gets him between 80-120 more often than not with marks, goals and lays a fair few tackles for his size.
