Highly rated assistant Adam Kingsley is certain to link up with 2004 premiership teammate Damien Hardwick at Richmond, replacing Ben Rutten whofoxfooty.com.au reported joined Essendon last week.

Kingsley, who narrowly missed out on the Adelaide senior gig to Don Pyke and Gold Coast job to Stuart Dew, has been at the Saints since 2011. Although the majority of his time at the club has been spent working with midfielders, this year his role was more focused on ball movement and transition.

Seem to remember he was a coach in waiting a while back. Think he was one of those Level 4 certified guys.

Also on his role with the Saints what's the old saying "You cant polish a turd"

I'd imagine Balmey would e getting someone decent in.

Welcome Adam if true

As long as we keep caracella.

Although the politics amongst the group could be interesting, hopefully Kingsley doesn't have too much ego about him if he's a 'coach in waiting' the group is so cohesive already, be a shame if something upset the mix.
Carracella and Leppitsch have both re-signed, Kingsley would be coming to further his career and wouldn’t be doing anything to upset the dynamic and damage his hopes of a senior gig going forward.
Will be interesting what they do if maybe Leppa takes over the defence and Kingsley the forwards?

I thought a while ago Kingsley would be a good senior coach. Then I spoke to some saints fans who didnt have much to say about him. It was St Kilda after all.

There's no way we'd bring in someone we didnt rate so trust the club on this one. Welcome aboard the tiggy train Adam.

Don’t like it when we appoint KDH old mates at the club , but I don’t know much about him so I really have no right to speak. However if he was at StKilda then I could be forgiven for having some doubts.

You could say the same about Caracella. They won a premiership together.

Agree, but our record with PA assistants
has been woeful. Didn’t we get rid of a shot load after 2016?

Yes. That was when Neil Balme decided that he wouldn't place the burden of choosing assistants on Dimma. :)

Interesting. But then I know nothing of AFL assistant coaches. If he has had conflict with the senior coach at the Saints it's pretty clear we don't ust want yes men. Got the guy that vehemently disagreed with Carlton's drafting (not hard to do though). Some people avoid getting opinionated people in, as causing conflict. But get the right ones and you're thinking is so much better as a group. Hope he fits.

Not overwhelmed with this decision. One of St.Kilda's big weaknesses is their transition work, they have actually gone backwards this year. If Kingsley is mainly responsible for that area, then I don't think he's done a great job.
What the hell is the hurry in making the appointment anyway? This season hasn't even finished, have a marketing campaign and try to attract the best possible person, Richmond are primed for a good appointment as most people benefit from working in a successful environment and therefore we are a destination club.
