havent seen to much of him

how old is he

can he find the footy

what would he be worth in picks 2nd 3rd round

he just turned 22, was selected in 1st round of the 2004 draft.

seems very much like our own polo - all the port fans are absolutely spewing he left and am blaming the selection commitee - some even calling for rhodes sacking.

was given Sweet **** all chances in the seniors - biggest weakness seems to be pace (again, much like polo) but does seem to have a much better attitude and work ethic than polo.

i think our 3rd selection could do it as long as you have the player completely dedicated to coming to your club

no way i love shulzy!!!!

i wouldnt offer schulz - but we have to be realistic - he wanted to leave last season, and we basically refused a reasonable offer for him to return home.

hopefully he decides to stay - but we can't be too shocked if he wants out

Hes not too bad but turns the ball over a bit too much by foot. I quite like him as a player though.

seems like a player who would appreciate a chance to prove himself - much like morton was.

we should really try to get him passionate about coming to richmond - and then drive a hard bargain with the draft pick - end of the day, Port adelaide did everything in their power to get this bloke to leave. They cannot honestly say they think some kid who they refused to give a game to is worth more than a 3rd rounder.

then our first 2 selections in the draft can be a ruckman and KP forward

can someone post a site for information on players because adam cambell from freo wants out also and id like to read up on more about both these players

thanks

What makes him think he would get a go in our midfield, particularly if best available at pick is a midefielder.

Agree with Beaver, should be looking to get the deal done without using picks. Schulz for Thompson... hmmmm... not sure, but could be persuaded.

What about Meyer for Thompson? Seems fair... but l would rather trade Schulz than Meyer.

:)

If Schulz were to be traded to a SA team, I'd prefer it be Adelaide and look for us to pick up one of their midfielders such as Brent Reilly.

to trading picks in the last uncompromised draft.

Maybe Schulz and our 2nd rounder for Thompson and their 2nd rounder. Or first rounders even.

Our first round pick is number 4, that's not going anywhere unless the deal invloves Kerr or possibly Didak.

I'm not sure on this guy.

There is no real reason why if he was going to make it, he shouldn't have by now. He is 22 y.o (will be 22 & 6 months) by the start of next year and has filled out (184cm, 84kg) so there is no problem there. However, for an inside midfielder he only averaged 14 touches a game this year.

He can kick a goal and has good (not great) pace. He is a good tackler and was a first round pick from the Deledio/Tambling draft. However he only played 7 games this year in the Powers midfield which after the Burgoyns, Cornes and Rodan doesn't have alot of depth. Players like Salopeck, Boak, and Symes before them all went past him.

However, conifidance can be a great thing. As Mitch Morton prooves. He couldn't get a regular gig in the Weagles side but since coming to Richmond has looked like a 5-10 year prospect. So maybe if Thomson was given a longer string of games together he would build confidance.

In saying this I wouldn't offer anymore then our 3rd pick and/or maybe a Danny Meyer for him.

As another poster said, this is the last untainted draft for awhile so we need to make the most of it and look to trade for picks first and players second. If our premiership window is going to be around 2011-2013 based around guys like Foley, Deledio, Cotchin, Morton, Rance, Riewoldt, Thursty, Moore, McGuane, Raines (Theres still hope for him yet) etc, then this is probably the last draft to pick up players who maybe able to develop into the best 22 around this time

I have no problems with Polo's work ethic - he seems to put in 100% whenever I see him. Maybe he is just super fit so doesn't break a sweat after 20km of running :p

i think people over-react to the "last untained draft" thing.

Sure, i would not be trading away my first rounder under any circumstance - and it would take a very impressive player to lure me into trading my 2nd rounder.

But the 3rd rounder? from there its mostly a gamble - make sure your in a situation to have at least four selections - and that will be fine. End of the day this kid is 22 not 31 - he has not been given anywhere near enough ground time for the potential he has shown.

i think if we got this kid on the list - he, along with meyer, Edwards, hughes, polo, pattison, connors - would be the backbone of "the next group" to take this club to the next level - The group which add that extra improvement that Mitch Morton, Matty White, Kelvin Moore, Luke McGuane, Reiwoldt - provided this season.

The following year - it will be cotchin, rance, putt, hopefully Gourdis, & hopefully JON.

Neither player comes into first round pick contention. Especially not top 8 pick contention. I like your first suggestion however. Not sure Port would.

I think he meant exchanging first rounders i.e we get thomson and pick 4 and they get shultz and pick 8.

Port would never go there though.

I am entertaining the thought of Thomson for Schultz - lets face it, Shultz really isn't that good.
