Bumped Adams Kicking

We know that he is not the best kick.

He can have some shocking Shanks but have some lovely kicks.

He has improved since last season.

I think his problem is that his Kicks lack Penatration. So when kicks it can float on him.

When he tries to hard is when he is prone to shank it at times

Your Thoughts?

Don't think he is a bad kick but can make bad decisions at times he is so much better this year

The past couple of games (before this week) his kicking showed marked improvement - he had a lot more penetration on several occasions when he was picking out a target in the corridor and he showed an ability to switch the ball quickly with a low penetrating kick across the ground that we hadn't seen previously.

I don't necessarily think it's a skill issue with Adams because he clearly can pull off those low penetrating kicks at times - I suspect it's more a case of being indecisive and putting himself under more pressure by second-guessing himself when it comes to taking the first (good) option he sees (you can almost hear the gears grinding in his head at times when he's a bit unsure of himself).

Agree, When you see him looking for a Target you worry. Longer he thinks about it the more chance he will have shank it.

He is better when he plays with his Insticts more

Yeh he is just a little inconsistent. He can turn it over at times and at others he hits laser bullets to leading targets like he did to Elliott in the fourth.

Overall, I don't have a problem with it at all. I think he has been very good this season.

I think he has to realise his limitations and play it a little more simple, not trying to hit the difficult pass, especially when going across the field.

Agree, He needs to take the Easy Option. Not the Hard One

I think inside midfielders are more prone to kicking under fatigue. I notice that Adams often has his kicks intercepted, which may suggest fatigue. I think four or five decent pre-seasons leads to better disposal under duress. That might be what we're seeing with Taylor. Priddis comes to mind.

Adams Inside work really good.

Most inside mids are not Great Kicks

He's improving and will continue to improve. Sam Mitchell used to be way worse than the elite kick he has become. Not suggesting Adams can get to his level.

He's doing alright so far this season, has improved upon last year. As mentioned above, it's a confidence thing with Adams and he is settling well, beginning to feel comfortable and secure in his role and at the club. He's still so young and got a huge amount of upside, Adams will be an integral cog in the Pies machine for many years to come.

kicks well enough on the reflex, kicks poorly when he has time.

His general issue with his kicking is that he tries to weight each kick to drop on a spot because he kicks it with a loop, Ablett does this too.
The training for him is to kick it up and let it hold the air for the player to run in to

Yet to see many of these. If they exist, they're outweighed by the awful 10 to 1...

He's still got a spot in our best 22 but needs to keep it simple. No kicking into the corridor, no kicking to 2on1s etc - move it quick and short and into less dangerous positions.

Well he shanks plenty of 20 meter passes so I don't think its him trying to kick it too far.

Well, I Adams is not the only one who does.

Swanny can do it and I remember Oxley doing that Same Thing.

Adams was trying to Kick It Further and he miss Kicks it sometimes

Not saying he is the only one. But you said that he does it because he is trying to kick it too far. I was saying I don't think that is the reason he balls his kicks up.

He's a poor kick that knows he a poor kick. As long as he plays within his limitations he's fine. For instance he should never ever be the one to bring it into the corridor.

and The Players should know that and try to be close to him when he gets the Ball and not leave him in the Open by Himself

He is handballing a lot this year showing that he is learning his limitations.

He is not a bad kick, which was highlighted by that chizzler to elliott in the last.

His problem is decision making and not taking his first option. You know when he ignores hos first option and starts looking around that its going to go bad. When he plays on instinct he can kick nicely.

Reminds me of rheece shaw in this regards. Used to be a horrible ball user when he had time. He now plays on instinct and has improved.
