Disagree with blaming a coach for that. "mum, he made me get tacked and hold the ball instead of disposing of it".
Yep :thumbsu:

Conventional wisdom on here was that Craig ruined Mattner by playing him in the backlines, rather then leaving him on the wing where he played well in 2005. Roos has successfully resurrected Mattner's career by playing him... in the backlines too.

Roos has given Mattner fewer defensive responsibilities though and he has excelled, along with Rhyce Shaw who is playing with similar freedom. Not sure this is helping the performance of the Swans whatsoever but it's been great for the two players in question.

I want to post thoughts on the commentary. I heard that Healy, Hird and Taylor were the commentators and thought "Good, this should be a fun match to watch :)"

That was the most awful commentary I've heard in ages. Taylor was trying to play counterpoint to Healy and Hird and it was embarassing. Healy was clearly himself embarassed by the Crows he talks up so much and was grumpy the whole day. Hird was carrying on like a moron. It eventually degraded into almost unlistenable commentary. I ended up wanting to turn the volume off.

The commentary was freaking horrible. I agree with you here stabby. They need to get commentators to commentate not personalities who have their own agenda.

The frustrating thing is all three of those commentators are good commentators. Healy is one of the best going around in my opinion (not just because he rates the Crows, but he seems to be interesting every time I listen to him), Hird is a good special comments guy and Taylor is usually fun to listen to. But they didn't click the whole time. There was no chemistry so it just boiled down to really awkward and boring banter.

maybe Sydney were ahead of us in that regard
Interesting thought, and Sydney did win one. But we have been consistently successful against them specifically over the last set of years. Go figure. I subscribe to some theories about a little bit of luck, and rubbish umpiring, if not quite the footy gods Blighty used to talk about.
