Wow, it's twenty-past nine and no game day thread. Tut, tut, tut.

Big game for Eddie's 200th, Friday night and sold out match against arguably the best team in the league.

Who's confident? I'm feeling it'll be close, but we might just fall short.

I see The Pride have organised a "last minute" march. Anyone attending?

Whispers this morning that Thompson and Rutten will be late outs. Thompson will have to pass a concussion test according to FiveAA.

We need Tex to bring his game, we need Talia to stop Roughy, we need Danger to be the clearance machine.

Assuming Rutten is out, and Talia gets Roughy - Who goes to Gun$ton? Otten?

LT will come in and belt Gunston....... figuratively...... maybe.

Its gonna be cold, its gonna be wet and its gonna be a slog. Can we win ?? Ken oath we can win. The 3 muppets in green not withstanding I feel we are finally getting our act together. If Rutten misses itll matter, if Thommo misses it'll be huge.

However every cloud has a silver lining. If Truck missed then LT can stake another claim, if Thommo misses...... its the reincarnation of the Bash Brothers !!!

Talia - Roughy
Otten - Gunston
Brown - Bruest (is Brown tall enough?)
Rutten - Resting ruckman.
rutten - last minute out IMO - matt crouch to come in

Have a good feeling about tonight, the wet conditions will favour us, as the Hawks played PAPS in warm perfect conditions in May, we are used to the cold and wet at AO after the last couple of games. We need to play as well and hard as we did in the second half of the Showdown for four quarters to win.

There is a 90% chance of rain predicted between 5pm & 3am so its going to be a wet one.

Crows 10.13.73
Hawks 9.12.66
Attendance: 51,214

Crows by 7 points.

just had a look at the afl preview of the game tonight. couple of surprises there

we are the no 1 contested marking side in the afl!? (average over 11 a game)

hawthorn are the 18th ranked tackling side (adelaide are 17th)

whoever wrote the preview has picked us by 17 points too

I was getting excited about this game but after reading the Hawthorn board I now realise we are actually crap and they are far too good and will win comfortably! Similar to the week we played North.

Their posters arrogance is astounding.

i don't think the rain will be too bad, may get a little bit like the showdown but I don't think it will be enough to warrant people not going because of it.

I think we are better off if its drier. Our tall forwards can give us an advantage. They have players who love the contest and the more skilful side which often shows out on wet days despite what some may believe.

Got a good feeling about tonight though.

Cannot underrate the home ground advantage we are developing. I just hope those umpires don't get too caught up on not getting sucked into the crowd and go too far the other way which is quite possible.

justified arrogance IMO. i look forward to the day we can be that arrogant

Predicting a 5 point win with Eddie to kick the winning goal after the siren from the Betts pocket in his 200th. Ahhhh can only dream I guess :p

Port had that same arrogance. I remember every Port supporter predicting 10 goal wins. Justifiable arrogance should only occur when you haven't lost the week before and 6 of your best 22 aren't missing.

respectfully disagree. if you play in 2 GF's in a row and have won 2 flags in 5 years, you're allowed certain levels of arrogance

on paper, they should win comfortably. football isn't played on paper however

Our chances aren't helped by the opposition fielding 20 players from the outset (Chamberlain might be borderline incompetent, but isn't biased, so I don't count him as a Hawthorn player).

McInerney and Nicholls were BOG for the Hawks in the 2012 Prelim!

And that's how the footy gods bring supporters back to reality! They are a good side, but you are only as good as your current form and they really haven't been super impressive. Missing a key defender against a tall forward line certainly plays into the crows hands.
