Probably a much, much more enjoyable time to rate your Demons after todays effort.

Again, not a whole lot for me to say as Martin and Warnock didn't play, however Sandy went down by a point.

Bate - still injured, presume he will have to work his way back through the VFL in the next two weeks.

Valenti - kicked 3 goals in a 3rd best on ground performance (Whelan second best he should play for Melbourne next week). Probably would play a game very soon if he wasn't a rookie but with McLean, Jones and McDonald as the in and under midfielder he is up against it for a spot and after watching Wonaeamirri I'd say they made the right call on who to upgrade.

James McDonald - had the job of tagging Ablett and did a fairly good job I thought, but only had 7 possessions, so didn't really hurt them back as a Ling type of player does. Tried his heart out again, and that's all you can ask.

Mark Jamar - looks as if his career is over after another good game by PJ. Not sure how he did for Sandy, but things not looking too good for the Russian.

Robbo - Not really much to report, almost took a pearler in the 2nd IIRC. No goals and only time i really saw him gain possessions was when he pushed up the ground

Cam Bruce- Thought was excellent, and I'd be inclined to name him as our best out there today. Sure McLean got 30 touches, but was shadowed by Ling. Brucey can tick off another Johnson on his opposition list, repeating the whooping he gave to Brad this week on Steve. S Johnson did get a couple of freak goals, but you can't keep super players down all the time.

Kicked a couple of goals, set up play and just makes us look classier. Or was it Rivers who did that? Great game by Bruce, lets hope his good form continues next week. Might even get a bigger run in the guts too with his fitness improving.

Clint Bartram
Had a good game, laid some very nice tackles and looked very poised and calm when under pressure. Will be a future 200+ gamer(IMO).:thumbsu:

Austin Wonaeamirri
Was very good on debut he got 16 possesions and did some very nice things, has alot of X-Facter about him. Look forward to watching him again next week.:thumbsu:

Paul Johnson

Disposal was pretty shoddy at times but gave it his all, and his pace is still astounding for a man his size. Knows how to mark the ball and seems to have the tank to play either forward or back, tap work still needs a bit of work.

Would be top five in our B+F at this stage.

Cale Morton

Played a very good game and worked hard around the ground creating and setting up 22 Disposals and kicked 2 goals, one which was an absolute dribbling gem:D!!. Already looking like a 50 game player

Jared Rivers

Well the man had a pretty good return today. Not many possies, but he has always he focused on the 1%er's. Held Mooney goal less in the first half. Good return from a year out, and it just shows that he has a huge influence on the backline when he plays. And his return got Miller out of the backline and back to where he should play

What about the spoil when he came from a million miles back? Legend.

I'd ditch the 28 jumper for a 27 now, but I don't want one with the 150 patch on it because I sure as hell don't want to be reminded of this season.

True Dat. That spoil had 2004 written all over it

Brad Miller

I think Miller benifeted from having Rivers backl in the side today which let him play as a key-forward pushing up the ground which i think is his favoured position.

Question Merc.

Was Philthy there before the game when they were unfurling the VFL flag?

2 - Jones

Lets forget about his disposal for a second, this bloke leads from the front every week in his endeavour and heart and the way the game is being played these days by the strong teams Geelong, Hawthorn even the Bulldogs and the Saints, its a midfield war, and i beleive Baileys trying to introduce this at Melbourne, at times today our boys took it up to the big boys at Geelong at we were on top through the middle, crashing and bashing in the stoppage wars, our forward lines a worry thats for another thread... but the disposal into it is also lacking, and Jones is a culprit, hes still learning his craft though, and i can't wait till he's got another 20-30 games under his belt and has the poise that will without doubt make him an A grade midfielder.

Colin Sylvia.

I was babysitting 3 kids under 4 years old while watching the game so I don't have exact recollection but he went hard but was quiet except for when that little fight broke out. Sure he didn't do anything but I love that look he gets on his face like "oh boy I'm going to get to break someone's face now."
