ADSL help please!!!

I got ADSL installed this morning, I wasn't here when it was done and, to cut a long story short, it works on the desktop but not the laptop. On the laptop I get that box saying there is an incoming connection, but when I go to explorer, it gives the "cannot find server" screen.

So, if anyone knows anything about this, what settings I need to have etc, I would appreciate it.

What sort of ADSL Modem do you have?
How do you connect your laptop?
Ethernet or USB?

you'll want to check whether you have an internet connection. Click on Start, then run, then type 'cmd' and click on ok.

in the open window type in "ping yahoo.com" and press enter. You should get a series of four messages saying reply from...

If you get these, your internet connection is ok and it is your IE that needs adjusting (try tools, internet options, connections)

If you didn't get a reply, make sure your setup correctly. If using ethernet, their should be a light on at the point where you plug the cable in.

If you are using USB, you should have some Dial-Up-Connection that dials through the modem.
