Not critising, certainly alot of improvements. I used to send them back a while ago, got myself a free AFLFiery Hawk said:That may be a long way off as we don't have the market/budget/production team sizes that the dev company working on a title like FIFA does. Different horses for different courses.
Doesn't stop us wanting to reach those levels however!![]()

sound - Will this be improved - namely the crowd sound. I fall asleep when playing the last version.
I think a big factor of Aussie rules is the crowd - have you updated the crowd sound i.e. Does the crowd sound lift as you go forward, when a mark is taken in the 50 m arc, when the game is close with a few minutes left...does the crowd scream "Ball"...these are trademarks of AFL footy and something that has been done poorly in the past - it could not be hard to go to an afl match and record these sounds.
I think these would greatly improve the user experiance.
matera_goal said:Some questions
1. Is the game actually a challenge? I mean in Prem 2005, say I was kicking to the right of screen, I held right on the analog stick, pressed circle and thumped the ball to Judd who picked it up, ran to 50 unopposed and booted goal after goal. This is on Hard mode mate. If I didn't kick a goal it would at least be marked by Staker in the goalsquare.
2. Do the opposition actually interchange/make use of the bench? In 2005, the only thing they did was get injured players off. They never rotated or anything.
3. Do oppositions actually move players so there isnt a mismatch like Wirrpunda on Pavlich? Would Eagles move a taller backman (Say Graham or Hunter) onto Pav?
4. You said the game is finished and sent for approval in a few days. What happens between then and when it is actually released (Late June?)?
5. If I was playing as the Eagles and went to Instant Replay and used the interactive camers angle (which you can move) to zoom in on Judds face, will I be able to see Judd's face as he appears in his profile picture?
6. What hairstyles are there?
7. You commented there are 10 ratings/statistics for players. What are they? (Kicking, handballing etc.) What are Judd's stats?
Thanks mate

I've already mentioned it before, but I don't know why greedy boys had to rush a game out this year when you could have just worked the rest of 06 and beginning of 07 to get a brilliant game out with everything included.
It could have been ready for the beginning of the 2007 season and everything would be sweet. Instead you desperately needed more $$$$$$$$ even though you ripped off thousands of people with your other efforts.

Thanks mate. I am excited for this game. Can't wait to trade those logs Brett and Rowan JonesFiery Hawk said:Ok Matera Goal...will do my best to answer...
1. Put it this way...you can hone your skills on Easy. Sometimes there's a challenge but it's mostly to get you used to marking, ruckwork, kicking, goal kicks etc. On Normal you are evenly matched (well I am anyway - the result can go either way). On Hard I struggle a bit but I appreciate the intensity from the AI with regards to me needing to move the ball on quickly and share it with an open team mate or someone nearby. There are some classic battles in the middle on Hard.
2. They still make interchanges for injured and fatigued players. You'll really need to play lengthy quarters to see them interchange for fatigue however. Unfortunately our tactical inclusions in 2006 aren't advanced enough to get the CPU to make changes based on miss matches. Looking to the next version for that.
3. Read above.
4. Well we hand it to Sony who then test the game to the limits. If it meets their stringent requirements we then head to manufacture and marketing. If not we have another 2 cracks (after fixing bugs) at getting them to approve it. It's quite a process (won't go into it here) and doesn't just end with us thinking the game is ok for release.
5. Err...no. We can't afford to have individual player faces. We have however done our best to make each player look as much like his real life counterpart as possible. But with all AFL games you still have to 'use your imagination' to a point![]()
6. There are 11 hairstyles ranging from short to dreads.
7. Speed, Strength, Agility, Stamina, Kicking/Handballing Distance, Jumping, Durability, Marking, Accuracy (by hand and foot), and Balance. You'll have to wait and see about Judd![]()
This punctuates how very excited I am about this game. Especially with PE and 2005 comparisons. ESPECIALLY 2005.Fiery Hawk said:Just thought I'd let y'all know that we played the previous 4 versions of AFL today. They were all on PS2 so we could accurately compare our 2006 to them. We found the following;
2005 - we s#@t on it. Wouldn't have taken much to do this...
2004PE - we have improved dramatically from this with regards to gameplay. The controls are now more intuitive and the animation/action much smoother. Visually we are miles ahead and when playing the game the 2006 is much more fun. The only thing we lack is the extra content that was in the PE edition like bonus videos and team historys for example but I think we have focused on the right areas. I know that PE is the benchmark for most people but I'm confident we have passed it gameplay wise which is what you want at the end of the day yeah?
2004 - definitely improved on this version.
2003 - this game still works as a 'pick up and play' title but lacks depth in gameplay with regards to strategy and options for the User.
I'll be reading with interest when you guys get a hold of 2006 to see if you share my sentiments.

dids4 said:i know its clearly too late, but i thought of an awesome idea which would add to the realism side of things something shocking; how about the option of making players have their jumpers in/out, short sleeves/long sleeves and socks up/down? also selecting their boots?
may not sound like much, but if anyone else is as obsessed with their team as i am with mine, theyll know what player dresses like what, and you would be able to see them on the game and say 'thats lonie' etc.
and it wouldnt be that hard to implement would it?
just a thought.![]()
Fiery Hawk said:Yep would love to have that in myself but the reality is something like that won't be in until there's a next gen title. Much like Lonie_from_50 I'd be anal enough to do it too.![]()

Can't wait to trade those logs Brett and Rowan JonesThe great thing is you don't have to play players who in real life get a game but you think are rubbish and you can give players who you like but spend all their time in the 2s. As of AFL Premiership 2006, Eagles have a messiah at FF and his name is Ben McKinley.
Shame to hear about no player faces but hey maybe I can kidnap a few and digimask them for ransom. Muahahaha! Player attributes sound wicked and 11 hairstyles are better than 1.
AFL 2006 > AFL 2005 eh?

P.S Probably the day I see it in a Big W catalog I'm going tomyself. Will have many sleepless nights and read the catalog 10000 times until the day it's out. Probably bring a sleeping bag outside the shops like what people do for Xbox 360s. I wish >.<
