FH, will there be any unlockables in the game like AFL 04? Perhaps you could have great players unlockable such as win a premiership on hard with North to unlock Wayne Carey for them in single match mode or something, and so on so forth.

Just feel the unlockables in '04 added something to the game.

Re: AFL 2006 Talk / AFL 2007 request / query

Hi all,

I've finally had time over past month to 6 weeks to really get into game and am up to round 12 on easy then to medium mode and have won 8 out of 12, but I did something I never have done in any AFL game, a draw!!

Anyway I would like to say except for some minor issues ( like not being able to access player's stats during quaters, no running Coleman medal during season and no running leading stats during season and no tackle count at all during games. Also one bug I've picked up in 2006, clearances in the teams summary of stats are shown, but when you check indvidual players stats, no one gets credited with them (sorry if any of these have already been mentioned, I've been too busy to post here) The game play is quite good, like the challenge of playing different strategies during a game, swapping player tags etc. Graphics are okay as I know they were rushed for this years game, e.g ground grass looks like a billard table cover.

Can we have some the stats issues above added or fixed up in 2007 and maybe at the end of a season along with the Brownlow, how about a B&F for your team?
Oh, I'm sure this would of been mentioned, the end pans are okay, just maybe alter camera angle back to 2004 or 2005, as it is hard to pick up your players up the field.

Now the query is, is Dennis Commetti still gonig to be commentator, I ask re the end of Channel 9 AFL coverage and it doesn't look like he'll go back to 7 next year.

Keep up the good work FH & others.

Re: AFL 2006 Talk / AFL 2007 request / query

I bought the game yesterday. Pretty impressed right now.... however....

I thought the teams running into the field were IMPROVED...... you call that improved?! I think it was a step in the other direction :(

Besides that, good game. 7/10

I got the game and I think the Loading time is Redculiose!

I have been playing a while now.

1. If you are on the boundary line and kicking for goal, if it hits the behind post on the full, the decision is paid for a throw in!

2. The time clock at the beginning of each qtr starts ticking over before the ball is even bounced. ie You lose thiry seconds of play each time.

3. Free kick count is horribly biaised against the cpu opponent in one player mode. Also some of the free kicks are terribly soft and unfair.

More to come.

Re: the free kicks, you might have to change the ump setting to lenient or something. I had the same problem, mainly at centre bounces after a goal, an opposition player would bump a guy im not even controlling, instant free kick. Very pathetic and frustrating.

Wondering if it is possible in the game to have Sydney-like numbers around the ball :).
ive tried this a couple of times with carlton since my midfields not as strong i get my half forwards to tag the midfielders and sometimes they are there iv also tried loading up my backline with wingers tagging the FF etc.

Yeah I'm a big fan of unlockables but unfortunately we can't add any players from the past as they aren't included in the AFL licence. A way around it may be to put in past premiership teams with sound-a-like names (e.g. Jason Tunstall = Jason Dunstall). These names may be able to be edited in the game so you can have your real names but players will be referred to by position and number in the commentary. It's just an idea.
Rest assured we are looking at unlockable items and want to reward the player for exploring the game. Will let you know more when I can confirm things like this.

All stats issues will be fixed for 2007. A lot of work is being done with the cameras including some new ones like a fixed end-pan camera (similar to what you'll see in soccer games). We are aware of the issues related to identifying team mates around the field and are addressing them.
The plan for B&F's at clubs is to have them rigged to a new player rankings system so they are no longer awarded to the highest vote getter in the Brownlow.
Season stats are to be included in 2007 so you'll be able to track the Coleman medal - something I have been asking for for quite a while now trust me!
Player models have been overhauled so you'll notice an improvement there. Graphics in general will be treated again so no more billiard table grass ;)
Not sure what the status is with Dennis doing the commentary. Will know more in a couple of months.
Hopefully that answered everything - thanks for the feedback and kind words... we appreciate it!

are you referring to the cutscene? What would you like to see? Sorry, but we can't put banners in.

1. Yes we are aware of this and it has been fixed.

2. Hadn't noticed this but will get onto it.

3. Play around with the umpire settings and let me know how it goes. More than happy to take your ideas onboard here.

Looking forward to your continued feedback!

I don't really care about the banners, although they are cool. Personally, I'd like the cut scene to go a little longer, allow the club songs to play for perhaps once through. Perhaps both teams just jogging would be good.:thumbsu:

Re: AFL 2006 Talk / AFL 2007 request / query

And what the hell is up with the kick ins.... no matter what freaking tactic I do, NO ONE ON MY TEAM CAN ****ING CATCH THE ****ING BALL, AND IT ALWAYS ENDS UP BEING AN OPPOSITION GOAL?

GRAEAAAAAAGH! SO bloody frustrating!

Re: AFL 2006 Talk / AFL 2007 request / query

It is seriously now ****ting me off. I've tried numerous tactics, and no matter what I do, my players are 20 meters away and going straight to opposition KPP's. What the ****?!

Re: AFL 2006 Talk / AFL 2007 request / query

Chezza i had that problem originally. A few tips you could try..

Keep trying tactics until you see a player free... i dont mean try a different tactic every time you kick out, keep changing it before you even kick out the first time if you understand.
Sometimes if i see nobody free ill play on, run wide, and pump the ball down the line.
Also sometimes i have a player free just inside 50 on about a 45 degree angle so i chip to him, obviously you need to hit your target or you're in strife.
If you are kicking with the wind you could try a screwie (you call it a torp) straight down the guts and it can go over their player's head and your boys can run onto it.

It ****ed me right off when i first started playing but give it time and you can perfect it.

Re: AFL 2006 Talk / AFL 2007 request / query

FH i just played another game and thought i'd tell you how awesome the ladder is with the little icons. Its a very nice little touch having the icons telling you what teams have sealed a finals spot, cant miss the finals etc. I like it.

Re: AFL 2006 Talk / AFL 2007 request / query

I think I'm getting better at the game, but god damn, I got pissed off when I take a mark and the Umpire says Play on, and I get pinged for Holding the ball...... COST ME THE GAME AGAINST THE DIRTBAGS... I mean Collingwood :p

Re: AFL 2006 Talk / AFL 2007 request / query

Yeah you have to remember to take your finger off L1 when you take the mark, i got caught like that when i first started.

Dont listen to my advice about kicking out! I just played the Doggies in Round 20, they were top, i was 3rd only one game behind. I fought back to level the game at 3 qtr time then kicked an early one in the last, they goaled, i kicked a few points then they went forward late in the piece and kicked a point.
I just couldnt get it out, they kicked a few more points to hit the front by 1, then i stuffed another kick out up and they kicked a goal.

I managed to get it to my goal square, Welsh took a mark but i got a free against me.. Biglands illegal shepherd. He was CHB whats he doing down there?!?!?

Oh and Huddo got reported during the game for what i thought was a push. Turns out it was actually a headbutt and he only got one game thank ****!

Re: AFL 2006 Talk / AFL 2007 request / query

This is pathetic

Its always ****ing 3 on 1, as SOON AS I get possession, I'm tackled and PINGED..... How the hell do they make it 3 on 1 all the time....

And why the **** when I am kicking into my forward 50, it ends up in the arms of the full back! HE ISN'T SUPPOSED TO BE LEADING OUT, FFS!

Re: AFL 2006 Talk / AFL 2007 request / query

Alright, I've absolutley had it.....

Maybe its the fact that the Lions in career mode have weak list, but I cannot buy a match.... at all. I can't bloody mark, I can't get any shots at goal, I cannot win a freaking match. Just as I set myself up, the computer decides to play magic, AND KICK 11 FREAKIN GOALS STRAIGHT!

Chezwick IMO you need to go to Anger Management classes immediatly, just calm down and with a bit more experience you should get better at it.

How long have you had and been playing the game for?

If it isn't long then just wait and the wins will start pouring in, if you have been playing for a while then you need to pray and hope for a miricle like the other teams you have been versing get.

What camera angle are you using? If you're using side view, you'll never hit anyone up, try end-pan, normal.

It just takes a bit of practice, i know i was pole axed by the opposition for virtually a whole season (nearly all 22 matches) where i lost from between 20 - 90 points in each game (this was on easy aswell ).

It just takes time, practice and paitence to get used to the game and learn the AI tactics of the computer opponents. Even though i've long since mastered it (can win by almost 200 points per game now, on the hard difficulty setting) i still can get trounced when i least expect it. The opposition can kick 6-7 straight goals before i can score again. In some cases it would come down to the ruck contest... if i lost it, i'd have to hope that they'd stuff up their run to the goals (hit the post or score a point) before i get a chance at gaining possession of the footy.

I'm pretty good during the season, but i still can't win the hard missions - eg: Sydney vs West Coast - replaying the last qtr of the GF. I can see that i have improved, as i only get beaten by 3 or 4 goals at the end, compared to being completely outscored by 20 goals... when i attempted to play it around the first few weeks when i got the game.

Just finished my first season on normal difficulty. Lost 1 game to West Coast at subi by 4 points. It took me probably 2 weeks of playing single and pre-season matches (about 1-2 games every day) before I became confident to start a season.

Love the trade week and drafting. I wanted Chad Cornes to come to the Pies as I need a CHB but Port wouldn't trade. Ended up getting Cox, Buchanan, Bartel and Lade for Rocca, Lockyer, Rhyce Shaw and J Cloke. Delisted heaps and picked up Waters, Brett Jones and Symes in the draft and passed all the rest of my picks.

Anyway, I thought the Magpie juggernaught would continue in 2007 but with the first nab cup game I saw an immediate improvement in the opposition :thumbsu: . Before I knew it, Geelong (with Everitt in the ruck) had kicked 4 goals to nothing and I had to put on the mega flood and open up my forward line. The cats were moving the ball very fast and playing on heaps and their backmen were playing very tight as well. Eventually I won the game but didn't get in front until the last quarter.

I like how the teams that finished towards the bottom in 2006 have improved from 2007.
