There may be. But my favourite way is to throw them in the middle and hope for the best.

Also maybe try putting them on the highest intensity training. if you already haven't because that'll give them more chance of getting injured.

I don't think it was a good idea to let testing be done overseas, when its a game that they will have never played/watched. Very bad idea.

Also Fiery is it the same physics engine as 06? or was a new physics engine developed for 07?

I don't need to put the training on high, my players get injured frequently . Usually by round 5 in a season, I have at least half a dozen players with injuries. I started a new season a few days ago, and by round 3 I had 3 of my best players out.

It seems worse when I simulate matches. If I simulate halfway through the season, I'll have about 10 injuries and 3 players suspended. Everything is so random. >.<

Not our idea. It made for cheaper production. That's the nature of the beast sometimes.

Essentially yeah but there was work done on the ball. Apparently a bug that had been there since 2003 was finally solved! Don't ask me what exactly it was though...

Don't think so, but i wish in further versions, you could create your own competition and fixture and choose as many teams as you want.

Thats a good idea

Also Why dont you get random people to come and play a quick game and get there feedback and have long term testers to find out all bugs and other stuff

Trust me, it's been brought up in the past. The QA guys and myself have championed it for a couple of years but the reality is like most small budget titles, that we simply don't have the time to get the game ready for 'focus testing' and then go and fix things before final submission. On the AFL games we really were pushed for time and struggled to get everything in. We simply had no time for a testing period the likes of which you guys are suggesting. We would have loved to see it happen though - don't get me wrong.

It really is a legacy of small budgets and tight deadlines unfortunately. :(

i would've paid to test. $100 to test and then get the game free when it comes out :p

One of you bigfooty guys came and did work experience with us about midway through production and he tested the game and helped us with the player data. I won't name him but yes, he did get a credit (and I think a copy - not sure now as it's been a while).

The game was tested overseas:

That is the biggest load of sexwee I have ever heard, you guys made the game and played it 24/7, how you didnt pick up on some of those obvious bugs is bewildering. Everyone else picked them up within minutes.

Its a freaking disgrace.

A bit over the top but his point was valid.

I choose not to believe that you guys simply missed these bugs, its impossible.

Did you not have the time/money to fix the problems but were aware of them.. or did you not test this game at all?

Your customers picked up the bugs almost instantly and reported them on this forum the day of release. I am not going to believe that experienced game testers missed them and even the designers. You cant say "the game was tested overseas" because the majority of these bugs were so glaringly obvious, they shouldnt have made it to the testing period. This would be unless of course they were dismissed and you's just gave up to make the release date.

Just curious.

I just take offence sometimes at accusations of incompetence. I have a fairly thick skin (as avid readers of this forum would well and truly know) but there are times I appreciate a more tactful approach.

That said...for sure we are aware of the bugs. There is not one game developer who isn't. The simple fact is we have a deliverable product and if it's deemed playable by our publisher it then is deemed shippable at the deadline. It can be VERY frustrating as a developer to see something go out that you know in your heart of hearts can be improved upon with a little more time but the reality of games development is that there is never 'a little more time'. We take solace in the fact that 07 was an improvement on 06 which in turn was an improvement on 05. We didn't "give up".

We're not Blind Freddy. We knew you guys would pick up on certain bugs straight away. Read back in the forum though and you'll notice that people also enjoyed the improvements we made to the game. It's a case of give and take sometimes.

We have an internal QA department but their time and resources are limited (bear in mind we have numerous projects on the go at any one time - not just AFL). They more often than not are reduced to liaison role with external QA departments from overseas. One other consideration that many here have not made is that the team developing and testing the AFL game were also working on two other sports titles (Gaelic Football and Gaelic Hurling) at the time. Many of you will notice the similarities between Gaelic Football and AFL but Hurling is an entirely new game. Getting three games produced in 12 months is a herculean effort and should be taken into consideration at the end of the day.

I'm not here with the intention of offering excuses - don't get me wrong. My intention is to educate folks on the amount of effort that the folks here in the sports team at IR Gurus (now Transmission) have been putting in for the last 12 months or so.

Should you still feel the need to blame us for everything you hate about the game then that's your call. I just appreciate your time reading this post. :thumbsu:

I reckon Good Effort FH :thumbsu:

The game is a massive improvement on 2006

I still reckon being able to edit player numbers, socks etc etc is a great inclusion.

Cos come 2008, u can change names, numbers etc, from the 07 team list to 08 team lists

Good Work :D
