I wouldn’t be sold on it, think this game will be taken a lot more seriously than that one.

If you do think it’s going to be a shootout, the goal lines look pretty juiced.

Cripps will play midfield a lot, apparently desperately wanted the concept, think 6+ and 8+ tackles could be a play for him.

They're certainly talking up how much effort they'll put in, but I'm not sure that translates into defence, especially around the ball. They've picked star players who aren't exactly known for their pressure. Reckon the mids will fill their boots.

the quarters are full length right? yeh 193.5 looks low to me even if they do take it seriously it should still be a trackmeet where stars are displaying their skills and won't be much time wasted chipping it around or slowing the game down due to a team getting a run on I feel..

Also seems to be too many mids, particularly on the Vics side, and too many key forwards on both teams.

Thinking small forwards and mids for snags.

Great post to start the 2026 AFL punting season. That total never looked like going under.

think my dees really struggle this year.. taken them 9.00 to be winless at rd 6.... have saints (mcg) freo (away) carlton (mcg) gcoast (mcg) essendon (ade gather rd) and brisbane (mcg)... always lose to essendon gather round and essendons team isn't that bad when injury free... carlton always pip us and I actually prefer their squad this year with Jagga/Newman back amongst others and more depth... stkilda if not hungover from pies match should beat us if they are half serious about being a decent team...

get adventurous and take us at 81.00 to be winless rd 10... would require an anzac eve loss vs youthful tigers (def possible) and a loss vs eagles at mcg which isn't as far fetched as last year with them now having shanahan/waterman up forward and a better squad this year.. think it's going to be a long ugly season for dees... bottom 4 also pays 2.60 tab..

Origin was so classy yet Kozi/Rivers were the rare ones turning it over constantly... kozi gives away too many stupid frees attempting tackles.. rivers is so overrated if he is in fact rated and loves a hospital handball to a teammate or just a shocking kick.. and Gawn looked short of a run or perhaps this is the season where he becomes a mere mortal

Also think Richmond are very likely to go winless through the first 6 (port and North best chances but underdogs in both) and a chance through the first 10.

Couldn't agree more. Our 2026 model has them as high as 3rd. A lot needs to gel, but the tools are absolutely there.
