PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING
Hello. Perhaps you've been here before. Perhaps you haven't. If you haven't, here's what you need to know: these threads have a long history of being dumpster fires. For that reason, we take a much stricter approach to moderation than we otherwise do.

What is okay:
  • Heated debate / disagreement
  • Criticising the game / developers
  • Praising the game / developers
  • General shit talk

What is not okay:
  • Personal attacks / name calling / abuse / criticising the person rather than the argument / game
  • Repeating the same thing over and over and over and over (and over) to push an agenda or attempt to dominate the thread

We will not hesitate to permanently thread ban you if you are taking too much of our time.

In the wise, wise words of Jasper Beardsley:

Not really AFL 26 related but Cricket 26 from BA releasing in November, will they get this release right or will the ship get lost at sea ? Xbox issues with patches? Wrong builds get uploaded? This would be about the 6th game released in the previous 12 months for these guys right and not a single one of them as been up to scratch at release.

From all reports AFL is playable now but how many would still be playing it, especially pro team?

Its a Big Ant launch, it'll be a disaster on all platforms, the communication will be beyond deplorable, and the Xbox version will be MIA for weeks to months.

It may (AFL 26) or may not (AFL 23, the Rugbys) be patched to an OK standard at some point next year.

Its like going back into the Lions den time and time again.

That said IF the Steam version of AFL w6 was on sale like xbox/ps5 I'd probably bite...... the ability to make videos is too good to ignore.

It'll undoubtedly just be Cricket 24 with slight improvements, which was basically just Cricket 22 when that released as well. I sense the focus will once again just be on licensing and not a whole lot else.

It's nothing if you really search the internet for it, but I ended up deleting it, after I played it for a few hours. I'd pay $300 for a proper AFL simulation game.

Has the difficulty on Pro Teams been scaled? Ladder leader games against easy opponents used to be smashings but it feels like the AI is more competitive.

Goal kicking on the run feels less ludicrous. Kicks that are within the white lines are going out on the full if facing nowhere near the goals but this was never a problem in the past.

Stamina feels like it’s being drained quicker and I keep encountering glitches like the ball being kicked 20m out of a tackle whenever the whistle is blown for a ball up.

I don’t recall there being an update but I don’t recall being this shit either

Turns out there was a patch. No idea what the **** it did but opponents AI have become incredibly more competitive whilst my teams AI has become more inept.

Team AI running away from the ball occurred in the past but it seems more common.

Never had so many high tackles paid against me too.

Don’t touch what isn’t broken, especially when your developers aren’t the most equipped.

I haven’t played a non player career game in a while but I’d say this is a good thing if it’s the case, games against the ai were ridiculously easy before.

Developer with a track record of 6/10 games releases a 6/10 game.

Man, the abuse I copped pre-AFL 23 for betting it would be a 6/10 game was wild. And that abortion was barely 4/10 a year after launch.
Yeah, the signs were there with their AO Tennis 1 shovelware scam, yet, I was duped because I was so impressed with the "base" of AFL Live 2011 I got scammed $100 by BA for that 23 shovelware and was "hoping" they'd fix it, but they never did and they just rereleased it for another $100 as "26", when it should be just an update; it's literally the same game.

It's wild I wasn't so keen on Evolution 2 but I now appreciate the basic aspects of it like 'responsive user commands", they definitely QA tested Evolution 2, unlike whatever 23 and 26 are which is just Superman 64 tier.

I didn't really think 2011 was that overly impressive tbh. I mean yeah i played the shit out of it, i've played the shit out all of them. The only one i struggled with was 23 early days as at launch it was awfully unplayable

More so the foundational stuff they got right, especially since all the AFL games before it were garbage, but it was nowhere near PES quality, it was really rough around the edges and desperately needed another iteration. Whereas 23 and 26 is just unsalvageable shovelware, they remind me of those bad 2000s IR Gurus AFL games where the controls absolutely suck and contested marking contests freeze.

2011 was an absolute tacklefest. Was the last one I bothered getting good at (in the sense I won the premiership on the hardest difficulty with the Eagles, who like now were the worst team in the AFL as the player stats would have been based on the 2010 season :( ), but it had a lot of faults.

People at the time were desperate for a "next gen" footy game, Big Ant back then actually engaged with the fans and the media in a positive manner (EB play sessions, IGN posted videos of them playing the cricket games before release etc, Big Ant themselves published in-depth gameplay videos of their upcoming games on YouTube etc etc etc), all of which created a lot of positivity.

Then they started releasing completely broken games, lied through their teeth, threatened their fans, banned all media except for a select group of YouTube influencers, and had the gall to fill their broken games with gambling mechanics, and here we are 🤷‍♂️
