Gold Coast's pink is like when team's wear predominantly white jumpers when not one of their primary colours. They look insipid & usually play accordingly.

Just played a game on AFL26, whilst not perfect, gave me a look into the potential jumper matchups. I'll say now if Brisbane wear home v the Pink, the colours clash a lot more than expected. And for the case of Hawks in Home/White shorts, it was a pretty significant clash with Adelaide.

Hopefully the right decisions are made, but I feel some clashes could occur this weekend
Don’t wanna say I called it, but damnit that colour clash wasn’t pretty. Worse then I had originally thought

As much as I love the Pink and Charcoal combination, wearing Pink vs Maroon just wasn't a good choice. They should've been told to wear their designated away/clash jumper. Really makes you wonder why they're basically refusing to wear a jumper that they paid someone to design!

***

Preliminary Final weekend should be pretty stock standard I'm guessing.

Geelong vs Hawthorn:

Geelong full white, Hawks full home or full brown.

Collingwood vs Brisbane:

Collingwood full home, Brisbane in their Fitzroy jumper and white shorts

Are even BF posters so scared of Collingwood that they can't state the obvious? On Saturday, there'll only be one team whose jumper contains white. Logically, that side should wear white shorts; after all, how often during the Port Adelaide "prison bars" bulldust did Eddie tell us there's only one black-and-white team, so clearly this shouldn't be a problem.

I am in full agreeance with you; however it is Collingwood's home game so I guess they're allowed to pull rank. Unfortunately the AFL has set a precedent which will result in Brisbane in their Fitzroy jumper with white shorts.

Brisbane will be fine wearing Fitzroy on Saturday. White shorts should typically be used as a lever to improve contrast (at least in neutral/finals matches). Change shorts should be a thing as of 2026 - Fitzroy blue would be optimal against the Pies, who should be in white shorts (the AFL used to do this consistently in finals).

Hawthorn will 100% be in brown shorts on Friday, Geelong in white.

Remaining GF matchup possibilities:

Probably in the minority but I think Collingwood in full black vs Hawthorn in white shorts looks better (first time we played) compared to the second meeting this season.

Either are completely fine though, not even remotely a clash

I think if it's Pies v Hawks you'd see Pies in black shorts and Hawks in white going off AFL precedent.
2011 prelim not recent enough? I mean you're probably right; the AFL has made poor decisions in the last two Grand Finals, where the contrast has been mediocre.

Making the team without white on their jumper wear white shorts against a team with lots of white on their jumper - that doesn't make sense. Also, day games justify further emphasis on contrast.

It would be fully light vs fully dark though there's zero clash whatsoever, and would be a Collingwood 'home game' considering they finished higher

2024 we really should have been wearing the Bears jumper.

2023 we should have been in maroon shorts.

2021 the Dogs should have been in their clash jumper.

What would you say Collingwood's jumper is, 70% dark? And Hawthorn's is 30% dark? There's a caveat - Collingwood have a 30% white jumper. The optimal solution is to use the colours you have, not bring more in. For mine, Collingwood in white shorts enables this, with the second-best solution being Hawthorn in brown shorts.

Brisbane have already worn the Fitzroy red this finals series so I'd love them to wear the Bears jumper with maroon shorts. Collingwood in retro white jumper and black shorts. Won't happen though.

Geelong in Navy Shorts
Hawks in white shorts
Is enough contrast, been done in home and away not sure why it can't be done in finals

Hasn't been done since 2019 I believe, and whilst not terrible, it also just isn't the perfect and normal option of geelong in white and hawks in brown

Nothing worse than a team that has no white in their club colours or pallette being forced to wear white against a team whose primary colour is white.

Geelong home kit is navy shorts and navy ribbed socks
This essentially makes them 'dark' enough when Hawks are yellow/white
The 'light team'
