AFL Live 2

Going to be getting this tomorrow, I was always going to get it anyway. You can't expect a NBA 2k or FIFA type game to be released.

I'm just glad we have a new AFL game, I spent the better part of 5 years playing '07, not cause it was a great game but because it was the sport that I loved and it was fun. Hopefully this game is pretty fun to play and can hold me over until another game comes out, which hopefully is fairly soon.

BIG head mode looks awesome didn't think Jack Rewoldts head could get any bigger!

I'm getting the impression that this game isn't really a sequel, more a foundation title to build from later on.

The fact that Tru Blu have created their own development team for this game tells me that they're not going to make one game and then ditch it UNLESS the game doesn't sell.

What we need to do is support the game and look at the positives and after a few titles Tru Blu will gather feedback and sort out the negatives

I think that you have missed a big point with all of this.

1) AFL Live 1 by Big Ant was an excellent foundation title. It was always built that way, by concentrating on the gameplay and not adding wanky features like TAC Cup and VFL players with fake names or career modes where you trade Brent Renouf for Jaeger O'Meara. Ross had spoken about wanting to do a second one with a career mode, and they have done that but only with rugby league and cricket. Even now Big Ant speaks of its passion for making AFL games but Tru Blu did not come to an agreement with them.
2) Tru Blu didn't create their own development team for this, they used Wicked Witch. This is the same company that made the awful AFL Live 1 Wii version.
3) If Tru Blu listened to feedback they would know that in the first game the Wii version was awful and the PS3/360 version wasn't perfect but decent and great fun online. Yet, they still went with Wicked Witch instead of Big Ant...

This game is definitely not a step forward. They looked to have improved upon the Wii version, but if it were instead BA improving on the PS3/360 version, we'd have a much better product.

What is it exactly that makes you say that?

I think the gameplay is vastly improved which is the real important part. From what it sounds like others on here are liking the gameplay too.

It lacks polish and basic elements to make it feel like a true AFL game. Its certainly a step forward in terms of gameplay in my opinion.

I thought BA wanted to do it but then and TruBlu couldn't come to agreements. Atleast we know BA would put their heart into it because they're footy fanatics, wicked witch looked like they were just looking for a cheap buck.

That's the real problem. Clearly this game was a quick hit and run cash grab, just like most AFL games in history have been. We were so close to starting a series of games that finally looked like doing our game justice and taking our ideas on board, only to go back to the same "screw the gameplay, it'll sell on name" method.

Whatever happens next time, we should getting the best of the lot. If it's BA, we have a the game we were expecting. If it's this TB/WW hybrid, they'll be building on this effort. Either way you're a winner! Ashley Schaeffer BMW...

And in this case, it is also selling on a non-name, since they are not advertising that it is made by Wicked Witch. Many people would have bought this game expecting the same developers as AFL Live 1, and instead they get the ugly sister that did the Wii version.

This game is also selling on features, like a career mode that means little if the players are all fake and if the trades are ridiculous.

The game was a joint venture between an in house Tru Blu dev team and Wicked Witch. The way it's worded on the Facebook post this info comes from is that Wicked Witch helped Tru Blu get started so they can make afl games themselves

And why would Tru Blu, a Sydney company, want to make AFL games in house? If they cared about AFL games they would have stuck with Big Ant. Seems more like they took the easy/cheap option by taking the old Wicked Witch Wii version and giving it a minor makeover. They've then shot themselves in the foot by claiming credit for what looks like an awful game.

Imagine how many speccies Howey would take if the full back would bend down on command?

You get what you pay for, as they say. It'd undoubtedly be cheaper for TB to do it in house, but BA would have delivered a markedly superior product. I keep saying it, but look at DB Cricket 14. If that's the point that BA's in-house engine is at, imagine how the true AFL Live 2 would have looked and played.

I don't believe the game is even worth the $70

After playing it id pay $30 tops

Because I got so excited and felt like a 12 year old again I enjoyed the first crack at it. There is less realism and more fun is what I noticed, but I will get over it pretty quick.

Basically, I started career mode after a practice match. I was 76-0 with 2 mins before half time and then changed from beginner to medium and won 99-66 (so in medium lost 23-66 in a half). It won't take long to get to legend though I would not think.

My player I created was a ruckman, due to the fact in my praccy game Natanui was everywhere. I played 10 min qtrs, my ruckman had 38 touches and kicked 5 goals. That is controllable though (feed him the ball!!!). But having 18 tackles as the ruckman and 81 hitouts!!!! That was not controllable...basically, the ruckman dominates!!!

Anyway, I am one who is an AFL Game addict, but I can see myself taking it back in 7 days, getting the full refund and putting the money onto GTA V or NBA 2k14.

Then I will buy it again for 25 bucks and buy the DLC for 15 bucks in April 2014. Win Win....why hang on to it for 6 months?
