LOL at the flogs who have actually paid $$$ for this piece of shit and cant return it, then try to justify wasting money on it by saying its a reasonable game.

Its hands down the worst sports game ever made, in the context of technological capabilities at the time of production. An absolute interactive abomination, and nothing else.

How about you cheap flogs stop returning the game and just try and get used to it. We want AFL game development to continue..

Yeah, exactly. Accepting this crap isn't going to help AFL games develop.

Buying and returning is probably the best case scenario. If nobody buys it, then they can say 'nobody wants AFL games' and not make another AFL game. If people buy it and keep it, they can say 'people will buy whatever crap we put out as long as it has an AFL sticker on it' and keep making crap AFL games. If people buy it and return it, then the conclusion is 'people want AFL games, but they obviously won't settle for any old crap'. That's how we get a good AFL game.

Finished one season in career mode and now I'm kinda over the game. Which is a shame, I only bought it Sunday...

It's a shame because a few little tweaks could have made this game great.

Celebrations
Why are there none? No winning theme songs after wins, no animation of players singing in a huddle... Also could have some sort of cut scene for the grand final, a win in the GF has the same atmosphere as a NAB Cup win.

Scenarios
Why not have different scenarios which is the norm in many games this year. For example, have GWS or GC and have to create a team out of draft picks and in contracted players to win the flag in 5 years. Have a Brisbane 'dynasty' where you have to win the flag three years in a row etc.

Better stats
How about actually showing how many goals a player has kicked when they are lining up/kick a goal? Or a leading possessions at qtr breaks without having to scroll through the stats sheet? Also rewards could be better like All Australian etc.

All Star option
Why not play and all star game between vics and SA or whatever. Get to choose two teams to play off against each other.

All in all I will probably play every now and then in the off season, but it's just a shame that a few changes could have really made this game a lot better.

I won't be returning it because I want to support AFL games. Would the developer even know of a game is returned or not? Would just see it as a non purchase.

Same here. After one year of career and doing the draft/trading I was over it. Haven't even started the next season. You can put in a 100 year career mode if you want but at the end of the day if the gameplay is bad, it's irrelevant.

I struggled through a TAC Cup season for the unlocks, and started a VFL one but just haven't been bothered to pick it up.

And if you haven't guessed yet, he's on drugs

I don't think it's at all reasonable to label him a potential Essendon recruit...

Anyway, he seems ok to me... I mean he was pretty much in line with some people on here, stringing together handballs and scoring, etc..... seems to have about the same depth of knowledge about footy as those folks too :)

When did I ever say his could be a Essendon supporter, Ross. I was just joking around.

The handballing is rather improved though.

I think summarizing the +/- is pretty easy.

+ Handballing is far superior
+ Tackling is far superior
+ Marking is more interesting IMO
+ Career mode (its still kinda shit though)
+ I really appreciate that at ball ups/throw ins the players at the fall of the ball will contest for it.
+ Bounce of the ball

- General smoothness of the game is far worse
- Goal kicking
- Field Kicking
- No checkside kicks :<
- Spoiling
- Kick outs
- Strategy

Not sure why I wrote all that out, but hey whatevs. Anyway, if they release AFLL3 that will probably be superior to 1 regardless of whether BAS or WW/TruBlu develop it. I think I'd prefer BAS as their game was the more enjoyable to play, but I just hope it isn't a new developer.

Have you been able to handball over the top at all? Not "having a go" but I can't seem to do it. Keep hearing about it being so easy to string them together but it seems to me that the handballs are in 2D and if someone is in the way it gets intercepted.

Yeah this is the issue. When you have taken a mark and someone is 10 metres in the clear I just want to handball over the man on the mark. Instead it always goes straight to him. Even worse when you are in traffic and have a man in the clear and just want to handball to clear it out and you handball to a guy standing in the way. Kicking is to slow to get it to him as well.

personally i am in love with this game i love how its so different from AFLL1 graphics are just awesome and i guess gameplay isnt the best but im hooked

The handballing to me does feel good but on hard at tac cup level it's extremely difficult to get the hands over. Once you get to vfl and afl level though I think it works well as you basically have to work to get the hands pass the player which is fairly realistic as in real matches if there is a player between you and your target they are likely to get some sort of hand on the footy.

My problem is here is i keep trying to do the same draw the man play that worked so well in AFL1. It just doesn't work though. You either handball too early and turn it over, or it goes to your teammate but the opponent turns on a dime and tackles him anyway. Or you ride the tackle but then the handball sprays out in some direction other than your teammate, generally making a beeline for an opponent player.

We must be watching different games each week :) - draw and pass over the top is the staple of footy, even at centre bounces in heavy traffic...

Woah! Forgot this was being released and only just started reading this thread again. Is it really this bad? Don't think I've ever read so many scathing remarks about a game before!!
