so u can confirm AFL Live 2004?
I am guessing it will be easier to make as u will not have to make the code from scrath, just improve it?

I haven't yet got to experience AFL Live2003:9 and i SO want to

(*looks at Russian Devil and jokingly asks "any free copies:D"*)

Top Work by the sounds of things, are u a developer or tester?

Junior developer. And I don't want to confirm or deny anything at this point in time - too much responsibility in case I'm wrong! :)
Well according to the AcclaimAU website, they have confirmed plans to release a GameCube version of AFL Live 2004...so how about I blame your marketing guy instead if the whole project drops dead? ;)

Thanks, I've read everything on BigFooty boards (including the page you provided a link to) regarding AFL 2003, before starting my first thread :) A lot of those are feature requests, whereas I'm more concerned with finer details of game play.

i don't know whether these have been mentioned, but the computer is rather predictable. My input comes through playing on Hard mode.

When the computer wins the centre ruck, they tend to just run, so even if you've got your ruckman selected, they eventually tackle the computer player. Holding the ball. pretty much everytime.

Computer doesn't seem to sprint, but rather run.

I have now mastered bumping at throw-ins. perhaps a freekick when you knock the player down way before the ball is thrown in :)

Perhaps the computer might play on more and that would speed up the game.

Features:
Kick ins. have a loose player close to goal, like in real life. so you don't have to just bomb it out all the time.

Having played a few games on hard now, I have now worked out that these three things bug me above all:

- Garry Lyon. He must be silenced...

- PC controls. What is so difficult about a program recognising the pressing of a key and responding to it?

- manual player selection (S key, auto-switch turned off). Why can't the game just switch to the nearest player? The whole point of turning auto-switch off is to prevent all this AI "I think you'd like to control this guy" malarkey. Yet even when I play with auto-switch off, the computer still insists on rotating me through about 3 or 4 people, some of whom are miles ahead of the ball. I WANT THE GUY NEAREST THE BALL. End of story.

LoL you people crack me up, is Gary really that bad? :)

Regarding auto-switching off and changing from player to player - if opposition has the ball and is running with it, and the closest player to the ball player is behind him would you really want to switch to him? What about when you're switching between players during centre bounce... I think the choice is there for a reason... and I guess I need to play the game more (wish I had more spare time!) to fully understand how annoying what you describe can get.

I like the auto switch as it automatically goes to the player when the ball is kicked (the player that is going up for the mark).

Regarding manual switching, it should switch to the closest player first, then the second closest, third closest and so on. Whether you are in posession or not.

Centre bounces and stoppages are a different kettle of fish. But it seems to me that e.g. when a loose ball is scooped up by the opposition, instead of switching to the player one/two steps behind the ball carrier (who could probably grab the guy with a speed burst), it goes to the blokes who are ahead of (and possibly sideways of, and further away from) said ball carrier. It's nice of programmers to think I need their help, but really I'd rather you just left me to suffer in the name of my own desire for control ;)

Better still, just make another control option: auto-switch, closest player, and manual AI switch.

(and yes, Garry Lyon is evil...

Looks like we're nearing the limit for the # of posts in this thread. I'm going to go over this one, scoop up all the important info and start up another one tomorrow. Thanks to all of you who contributed, and those who viewed the thread and perhaps thought about contributing hehe

I'm keeping all of them in mind... some of them are already on a list of things to add... others might get added depending on what deadline constraints allow. Good ideas are never ignored or forgotten :)
