Is this not the worst ever game made?

I hired this game for a week, and after playing 22 rounds I threw my controller across the room out of frustration at the inconsistencies, errors, conflicts and downright patheticness of this game.

It mightnt have been too bad...... if released 12 years ago on the SNES..

Atrocious game.. even AFL:2003 was better.

Aklaim should be ashamed!

I'll agree with that. Taking speccies over thin air...taking speccies every 30 seconds. It is a very easy game to dominate after a couple of games learning. C*@p game and I hope that if they make a 2005 game (it will have to be EA that makes it seeing as Acclaim went under) I hope it's better

Well I must be honest in saying that in my first season.. set on medium.. I won 18 games, drew 2, and lost 2, and not once was I able to speccie! But I got so sick and tired of my player not responding to controls.. and things such as "Solomon kicks them in front". When in fact itr was tivendale extending the tigers lead to 108 points..

Worst game ever.

My first season set on Hard I won 19 and lost 3...didn't know how to speccie but the opposition was taking them left right and centre. Can't say I've had too much problems with the commentary but whenever playing against Port it is always out.

And another thing why is Port so c*@p on that game when the year they made it they were minor premiers?

I thought it was a little odd I could go through the season on hard, with a win-loss record of 16-6 as Port Adelaide. Then beat Brisbane by 138 points in the Grand Final - kicking 16 goals to 1 in the fourth quarter. Mastered the art of Primus knocked the ball to Stuart Dew, the rover, and just kick a long goal into the breeze.

Crap game, only played it cause it was Footy
Ditto

I hired it, played the hard level, finished regular season 18-1-3. Beat Hawthorn (yes, hawthorn) in the final. Only team i beat by more than 100 points was Collingwood, :D

I agree. The commentary calls players that have been retired for a year or even 4 or 5 such as etc "Long". Once the oppostion trys to take speccies every 30 seconds you can't try to spoil. For some reason P.A keep winning the spoon despite their high ranking which is unrealistic and the commentary gets the teams in front wrong sometimes.

It's almost as if the creaters thought that "near enough is good enough" and couldn't be stuffed fixing the mistakes. That's an even bigger insult.

Some of those issues got fixed in platinum edition, but not enough to make it a decent game.
I thought it had the makings of a reasonably good game, but it felt like they'd rushed it out the door about six months early. I hoped PE, released six months later, would fix those issues, but unfortunately they got a bit caught up in adding new features which didn't work properly.

If we're lucky, the problems were more on Acclaim's end than IRGurus', and we won't see similar issues with 2005.
It's a distinct possibility, given that the traditional duties of the publisher include QA and timing.

Bad news! Acclaim will be making AFL Live 2005. This article from http://palgn.com.au/article.php?id=1244 shows features that will be added in the next game. The only obvious additions I see is tribunal and trade.

AFL Live 2005 announced

Yet another AFL title due out next year for the PS2 and Xbox. First details inside.

IR Gurus has today announced the development of a new title in the AFL Live series, AFL Live 2005.

AFL Live 2005 is scheduled for release in April 2005 (yes that's ten months away) and will hopefully be one of the biggest updates to the AFL Live franchise yet. With the last two AFL Live games recieving 2.0 and 3.0 respectively on this site we are hoping that IR gurus make significant improvements to the title. Some of the details unveiled so far include:

- All New Gaming AI

- New Team and Individual Player tactics

- "Rough Play" with realistic on-field play

- Online multiplayer gaming with Xbox Live (about time)

- Player fatigue

- Refined player collisions

- New ball physics

- Updated high polygon/detailed player models

- Individual player faces for key players

- Heritage jumpers for all 16 teams

- Real time lighting and shadows on players

- Decals such as mud and bandages on players throughout the match

- Expanded motion capture player animations

- Updated 3D Graphics

- 9 realistic football stadiums

- MCG will be updated to reflect the current state

- New weather effects such as improved rain

- Improved animation blending

- User controlled replay system

- Cinematic in-game replays

- Commentary by Dermott Brereton, Denis Commeti and Dipper

- Expanded commentary and sideline comments

- Multiple in-game and out-game production values

- Multiple camera modes

- National Anthem during finals games

- Added cheats, video unlocks and modes

- Dynasty mode - continuous season play up to 10 years

- Full 2005 fixture and player list

- AFL tribunal with reports and suspensions

- Player trading at end of season

- Individual user profiles

- Match statistics.

We must admit that these additions all sound great but will be in vain if the gameplay does not improve. Considering AFL Live: Premiership Edition was released a mere two months ago we are surprised IR Gurus would announce a sequel so quickly.

AFL Live 2005 will be released on the PS2, Xbox and PC in April 2005. PALGN will have more news on it as it comes to hand.
