AFL Season headed towards postponement?

Because, of course, there'd never be a Hotel Quarantine outbreak in Victoria, would there....
We are talking about this current outbreak. That occurred because SA gov didn't believe the virus is airborne after Vic made multiple changes to their system to stop this from happening... And oh look now WA has a leak due to the exact same thing... THIS ISN'T A STATE BY STATE PROBLEM IT IS A FEDERAL PROBLEM.

All Vic teams forfeit until Vic opens up again, given it’s by rounds it won’t impact that much.

It’s not the rest of the competition’s fault that they can’t contact trace.

Nice troll you know that’s not the issue.

Anywho even if we did have to somehow postpone the season we could always continue season till later. (Not that I think it will come to that)

They didn't murder anyone. Age Care deaths were just as much if not more so the responsibility of the Federal Government that failed to put in proper regulation and has again failed by the lifting ban on staff working more than one site and failing to make sure staff and residents were vaccinated in a timely manner. It's June now, they were all meant to be vaccinated by the end of March.

No one died from Covid in the homes run by the state.

You are delusional and a typical Labor supporter. Unwilling to take responsibly for your own ineptness.
The Victorian Government is solely responsible for those deaths along with record bankruptcies; children falling behind in their education, record number of businesses leaving Victoria for NSW and/or the Gold Coast while at the same time doubling the size of the public service.

Vic lockdown will be another 7 days at most IMO, I fully expect we will have crowds back at games in Vic by round 14 (albeit at even more reduced capacity and likely mandatory masks).

Yeah, it wil be extended IMO but locking down is a bit of a problem without JobKeeper so there is only so long it can go on for. Some people have zero income now.

Haven’t a number of Vic clubs already indicated they are unwilling to hub again?

if so, I think they really need to get over themselves, or at least fully confront the reality that they would be sinking the multi billion dollar industry which feeds them. If the AFL fails to fulfil its contractual broadcast obligations then it’s ultimately the players who will have to sell their multi million dollar homes

Agree, There are people far worse off than AFL players.

no contact tracing system could have caught this. contract tracing only works when you know someone has the virus. the bloke (and others he spread it to) were wandering around the community for over a week while infectious because noone knew they had the virus, because his stint in SA quarantine was supposed to ensure that he didnt. Unless we are going to quarantine everyone moving between states. The contract tracing system is effectively a week behind, which it always will be unless people have microchips in them with gps tracking.

your blah blah about andrews not wanting to work with other states because theyre on the other side of politics just proves youre simply taking pot shots based on your political bias. 5 of the 8 state governments are labor. stick to the herald sun comments sections.

Another poster who equates criticism of Dan Andrew's & his government as either being a sucker for Uncle Ruperts world view or a Lib stooge. You can be critical of Dan Andrews & Scott Morrison at the same time.

Yes, 5 of the 8 governments of the states & territories are Labor yet only 1 state has completely ballsed up the response to covid. Which one would that be? It certainly isn't NSW which, after their own balls up with the Ruby Princess, is leading the country in it's handling of the pandemic.

Contact tracing does work. And does not need to be a week behind. See every other state in the country. Our gold standard contract tracing system couldn't even name the right supermarket. By the tracers naming the wrong supermarket '...others he spread it to) were wandering around the community for over a week while infectious because noone knew they had the virus'. So on top of the original infected walking around for a week, there was an additional week because of this error.

im very critical of how the labor government has handled it. its absurd that we dont have a consistent qr system across the state, the lockdown of the housing towers was a disgrace, enforcement of lockdown and restrictions has been weak, using private firms (like security) for anything public health related is just stupid cheapskating, and the idea of still using hotels for quarantine this long after is borderline negligence (though thats also on the feds).

but statements like "andrews is a dictator trying to take over the state" or "andrews is just a stooge who locks down the state and refuses to cooperate because the other states are liberals" is not criticism or discussion. its simply politically motivated absurdity and is factually incorrect.

The State-run Aged Care facilities had a fraction of the deaths that the Private for Profit Overseen by the Federal Government Aged Care facilities had.

I never said Dan was a dictator. A dictator is just not possible in Australia, even with the Police onside. He is a control freak who has to be across everything that is going on in his government. Unless it is something wrong like the red shirts or the private security firms. The he just says he was never told or can't remember!

I also never said he refuses to cooperate with other states because they were liberal. I said he didn't want to use existing software that was being used by a state with a government from the other side of politics. He has shown he can cooperate with them when it suits him.

Liberals offered bi-partisanship early on, and it was spurned by Know it all Dan, who predictably went his own way. We know how that then resulted in 800 unnecessary deaths. The opposition are not there to act as cheerleaders for an incompetent and morally bankrupt conga line of spivs. Haven’t noticed too much bi partisanship and co-operation from “Each way Albo” and federal Labor for that matter.

But hey, pretty obvious gullible Dan acolytes like yourself don’t have the integrity or moral compass to examine what actually happened in Victoria and make an unbiased judgement based on the facts. Instead you’ve locked yourself in behind “your team”, and excused the inexcusable solely because that’s your team, and Dan’s the captain of the team.

People like you are just as culpable, after the event for the 800 deaths, as the ministers and public servants who developed sudden amnesia and lied through their teeth at that farcical and discredited Commission of Inquiry.

And you’ve got the hide to refer to an earlier poster as an “idiot”. Pot... kettle....
Your bullshit showed up in your first line.

The Vic and Federal Liberals have offered nothing but a partisan approach to this. The Victorian Liberal Party is the most partisan party in the country, their only goal is to destabilise the sitting government, and to argue otherwise just a straight-up lie. I don't think they have ever claimed to be trying to work with the Labor Government. Have a look at that idiot Tim Smith a couple of days ago when asked what the Liberals would do in Government - he literally had no answer. He stuttered a few times then said Gladys is the gold standard. More than 12 months and they do not have one constructive suggestion.

I really do wonder what type of person could watch all of this and still try and convince people that the Victorian opposition party have offered a bi-partisan approach. You can obviously string a sentence together so are not stupid - what's the motivation to go on the internet and spread misinformation? I'm guessing you are a Young Liberal, or aspire to be, I know they pro-actively spread misinformation, is it a coordinated plan or you just doing this off your own bat?
