Has anyone had problem with the site in the last couple of weeks?

It loads up fine on my work laptop but at home, it was fine one day and then stopped uploading the next. Today I updated to Firefox 4 and updated my flash player and still it wont work properly. The photos and half the links wont upload on the page. Why does the AFL site have to be so shite.

This and Essendon's website are the best in the league. Love how the Bombers took a stand a few years ago and went their own way with their website. The AFL tried to save face with their "BombersFC" official website but it had absolutely no content and sucked. Now unfortunately they have caved and the Bigpond header and footer is on the EssendonFC website. Still love it though, their Bomber TV service is excellent for anyone who is a Dons supporter.

The EFC website is a bit annoying now. BomberTV was not working well when they first converted to Bigpond (David Evans then publicly said it was unacceptable and Telstra seemed to have made some changes). Since then I like the Bigpond video stream as the quality of videos is better but the header and footer are annoying. Yesterday the videos were not working for me though.

Fortunately the club has opened a Youtube channel where all the BomberTV videos are uploaded (which works well for overseas supporters as well).

Assuming those videos are viewable overseas. So annoying to get videos that can't be viewed in Australia.

Did not know that might be a possibility. Anyone overseas who can confirm they can view the videos?

Videos work overseas.

The confusion is that videos on certain Australian based websites dont work overseas - ABC website and Fox are two examples.

The AFL website.

The AFL is trying to promote it's brand all over Australia and maybe even one day go international.
In areas where aussie rules is not the most dominant football code you don't here much about it in the media. The best way for these people to get to know the game is by going to the AFL website. These potential new fans will then be greeted with a website that is slower than the dial-up internet of 20 years ago.
Is this the best way to promote AFL ?
Maybe the AFL should get their act together on this one.

What he said!!!!

More frustrating than Hotmail.

What annoys me most is the fact that you need to register for some BigPond account in order to view a lot of the content. Have no idea what BigPond is, but assume it's some sort of Aussie internet provider.

Annoying because you go to watch some highlights etc. click on the link, and you are immediately diverted to this stupid BigPond page, and don't get to watch the video. Who's going to register for this service?!

You need to download all sorts of software to view videos too. And the videos are painfully slow.

*takes deep breath*

Re: The AFL website.

It is a joke and an embarassment. Why it is like this I have no idea. I for one do not waste my time going there anymore.

Invest some of the billions being received from the tv deal and fix this up please.

Re: The AFL website.

The site has been bad forever, it seems to get some things working better but then other problems pop up. Ah well, plenty of other sites to get everything you need anyway.

AFL.com's Match Centre

I finally upgraded my steam-driven pc to an electric model, with the i7 thing. Ages ago, I had no trouble loading Match Centre on the steam model. Then Match Centre (mid-season, I think) became Carlton Draft Match Centre and all the beer ads appeared (in their repulsive poo and oui colours).

It just wouldn't load, even with steam peeling the wallpaper.

On the new machine the Carlton Draft Match Centre loads like water running downhill, but it's nothing like it used to be. What happened to the sortable stats and player match up pages?

Were they replaced by the Betfair Live Match Odds Graph?

OT - link to non-basic live stats?

the bettometer at afl.com

a good guide to where the money is flowing or a genuine predictor?

At quarter time port are out to 50 to 1 and not taking money on the pies.

Re: AFL.com's Match Centre

Sortable stats and matchs ups are still there. They are tabbed underneath the scoring area of the Match Centre

Yeah, pretty much, no clearances or goal assists that I can find. I can live without the 1%ers.

I can find the team matchups but once upon a time you could matchup any two players and compare their stats.

Betfair.

Re: AFL.com's Match Centre

Amazingly the AFL have offered a way for regular people to help improve the main and club websites for 2012. Anyone here with a bit of tech know-how, jump on this!! :thumbsu:
