AFL World Team XXIII vs Indigenous All Stars in 2026 and beyond

With the AFL open to bringing back representative footy, think this could be an idea for a game (or two) to be played in late February or early March.

The under 16s are already doing it so think it'd be worthwhile for the AFL players to give it a go.

If the World 23 team were to be put together today (player born overseas or have one parent born overseas), this would the team I'd select.

Think this would give the Indigenous team some good competition and would be an exciting game.

And do people who are australian and not indiginous get to play? If not why?

Segregating players by race doesnt feel right to me. It should be states. Victoria vs the rest of australia.

Representative football only is worth it if all the best players play.

This is the thinking at the afl the head of afl multicultural told me this was on the table for next time as one of their ideas. I'd prefer indigenous v African though, as these composite teams like allies and world have nothing to play for as they aren't really representing anything important to them.

What about rugby league world . The only English sport that didn't spread global despite the British empire ruling the world and spreading every other English sport seamlessly via their empire lol. They now have to pull guys outta western sydney to play in the world cup for their parents country of origin, to make up the numbers and fabricate a world cup .
