Hi,

My name is Eric and I have only been watching the AFL for a few years. Living in the USA, I have no one to talk to about the AFL. If I bring up a dumb question, please show some patience as I am just learning the sport. I find the sport really intriguing. If any of you have any questions about USA sports, you can let me know as well. Have a great rest of the week everybody!

Welcome mate,
do any Australian sports get much coverage over there in the US?
I'd imagine it would be pretty hard to watch games over there, similar to watching NFL games here in Aus.

Hi Phantam,

Thank you for the message. The Australian sports do not get much coverage here in the US. I watch the AFL games online because I am a subscriber to www.liveafl.tv. The NFL is my favorite sport, so if you need any NFL perspective, I can definitely help with that as well.

Hi kober

Always interested in how people from outside of Australia developed an interest in Australian Football.

Why do you go for Melbourne?

Hi Barkly,

I actually watched the sport for the first time about 10 years ago, but just a tiny bit when it was on an obscure cable channel. I had not seen the sport for 8 years. In the states we have a website called www.espn3.com, which finally showed the sport (2 years ago) on the website. I really got towards watching the sport again. Since then, they took the sport off www.espn3.com. I have however purchased a subscription to www.liveafl.tv which allows me to see all of the replay matches.

I picked Melbourne because every time I saw them play they would lose and most of the time lose badly. I felt sorry for them so I guess I hope they win. I am not much of a rabid fan, so I have not developed an anger towards any team.

Thanks for the response.

I'm not sure if you're aware, Melbourne footy club has had a bit of rough and tumble pre-season with tanking allegations, heads might roll etc.

On the positive, they have recruited quite well in the off-season, so are a good chance to start climbing the ladder again.
