Just a minor gripe.

For those who weren't present, the AFL decided to move the AusKickers to well before the game, and instead showcase it's new version of Touch Footy, the Cadbury AFL 9s.

Really, AFL? You could make a six-year-old's day by having them kick a goal in front of fifty thousand people, or you could make us watch a bunch of largely overweight, middle-aged men play amateur-grade footy. One of the nicest things about footy is that it's a great sport to take a young family to and AusKick is a big part of that.

I disagree.

Maybe because i never got to do it or i dont have kids but tbh something different every now and then would be better than watching someone elses kids piss fart around on the turf.

This has Demetriou's fingerprints all over it.

Hang on, Demetriou could be one of the players iameviljez is alluding to.

Conspiracy.

It's not about the crowd mate.

Doesn't everyone go to the toilet or the bar at half time anyway?

Certainly seems that bloody way.

Hey Melbourne supporters have to endure that week in week out- we can for one half time break.

That's better Shell. More jokes like that please.

Your name is Evil Jez and you actively enjoy the family-friendly aspect of footy? What you got cookin', son? As for half-time entertainment I've cut a hole in one of the pockets of my jeans. So that's me sorted:thumbsu:

Let the kids have crack. I did Kanga cricket in the mid 80's and it was the highlight of the year...

MCG in the break of the Aust Windies 1 dayer....

Nothing like it for an 11 year old. Shit you never forget. Didn't make me a better cricketer but was really cool....

Then made it back out there in front of 98000 people for the Bledisloe Cup pre game about 18 years later. Still electric....

Go Catters

Well, I said I enjoyed watching the small children at half time. Take of that what you will

I really hope that's not an attempt at pedophilia humour

I have to agree- When I was 11 I got to play on ANZAC Day and it was the best experience of my life

I was at the Richmond game and saw this "9s" footy at 1/2 time. I didn't have that much problem with it being out there, but did comment to a friend that it was a bit harsh to screw the little kids out of a half time run on the field. The sneakiest part of it to me, was when I watched the replay, there was footage of the Aus Kick Kids playing as if it was half time, and Brian Taylor was talking about how great it is for the kids to get out there. I had to rewind and watch it again...there's almost nobody in the background (but I did spot a tigers & cats jumper), which says to me, that the kids were playing out there before the game, instead of half time.
Solid evidence that Andrew Demtriou hates children and loves Cadbury money.

That is sneaky!

And he's a ****ing hypocrite then- banging on about how good it is for the kids to be out there at half time, yet if Stevie J carries his kid out, oh no thats not ok.

The AFL have a revised schedule for half-time entertainment at Etihad on Friday, 10-May.
Replacing kid's onfield games will be a 15 minute educational doco entitled
'Dank Day Afternoon (History Of The Baby Bombers)' [Rated PGR].
Here is the trailer released today...

Good thread.
Saw this on saturday night. Doesn't look right with middle aged men/women running around on the MCG.

It's not that they think no one wil notice, but that not enough people will care enough to complain
I actually like that they are willing to try new concepts, just not at the expense of
A cynical dog act by the afl
But what do you expect from an organisation that is happy touting gambling
With the rules of the game, the location of games, and penalties for breaches of their own rules
All being dictated by the dollar

Deep Breath

OK rant over, nothing to see here:rolleyes:
