Australia's next batch of McGrath, Gillespie, Kaspa, Bichel, ect are amongst us (Including James Pattinson in that statement)

Couple of odd omissions, you'd think Pattinson would get in there, ditto Richardson, Doran, and I'm sure there are others.

Also odd to see Zampa in there, apparently he's highly rated but he hasn't done much in grade from what I've seen. Then again he's only 18 and leggies take time.

No South Australians i see.

Nice to see Copelands 66 wickets at 19.2 have been noticed

I think the young bowlers need to be looked after so hopefully they don't bowl too much while at the AIS. Our young quicks have been having to many injuries for my liking.

I don't think Copeland should be there, he should be playing Cricket in England he is good enough already without visiting the AIS. Also what is it that Beer wil benefit from being at the AIS??

I'm not sure I see the point in sending some of these guys to the AIS. Many of them have already shown they have the skills... they just need to get some experience under the belt.

Cooley wants to get his claws into Copeland and make sure that he has a stress fracture or two before he's much older.

He's pretty much taught himself to bowl from being a wicketkeeper so our coaches must be dying to fix something that isn't broken.

What exactly is the AIS thing?

I think it is far more beneficial to a young guy than going to England for six months. Training, Weights and Cardio, to prepare them for the rigours of playing and performing for back to back 5 day test matches. Also critiquing technique and working on strength to be able to perform with the bat. Australia's fielding has fallen backwards so again specialising on fielding for a portion should also help.

I don't see how it could be better than going to another country and learning how to play in completely different conditions and against a wider variety of bowlers and batsmen than you would ever have a hope of playing against in Aus.

For batsmen, especially a wide variety of spin bowlers. All our youngsters look like they need help badly in that area.

Interesting to see this article about Steyn

He's pretty close to the mark I think. The weights stuff is taken too far (the classic example being Watson) and endurance is a big factor in sustained fast bowling. Copeland probably being the Australian example of the above listed players, someone who bowls alot of overs and has the endurance to do so.

Probably right that some of these bowlers dont need this, Copeland being the obvious one who could do with an English summer. Would probably suit the conditions as well.

Lynn and Maddinson aside, god damn there is a dearth of good batting prospects.

Nathan Lyon is stiff. I've heard interviews with Krejza bemoaning the lack of state based spin coaches, and how he and Doherty coach themselves. If they are going to centralise spin coaching you might as well get the good prospects along.
