Aker

Football-wise Aker is exactly the type of player that would benefit the Dockers. But he does very little off the field to make him an attractive package. I guess that will help keep his price down.

I would be happy for the club to look at him if;
• they were confident that he won't destabilise the playing group with his behaviour.
• they are confident that he actually wants to play football at the highest level.
• he has a contract which is dependent on his behaviour being satisfactory on and off the field.

As for what we would give for him, it needs to be player(s) as we only have three players who are clear delistings, which we will need for draft picks. Any other spaces come at a cost.

Off Field he'd probably be a good asset in the media for the club to take the weight off CC, Pav and Bell who, try as they might aren't the most media friendly players.

I wouldn't have a problem with getting him, would love to have him but he seems to have his heart set on a Melbourne based team (Bulldogs but also mentioned Melbourne in general).

I would take him if only to complement Wells and Coughlan out of the middle.

Think about it...Couglan feeds it out to Peakey, who takes a couple of bounces on his way out of the square, then hands it off to Wells streaming down the wing. Wells looks up and spots Aker on the half-forward line who wheels around and kicks a running goal from the pocket. Mmmm.

Or a fit Hasleby feeds it out to Peakey, who takes a couple of bounces on his way out of the square, then hands it off to Crowley streaming down the wing. Crowley looks up to see Jeffrey just forward of the 50, who wheels around to kick miracle goal from the pocket. Mmmmm.... ;)

But where's the fantasy in that?

I should also have mentioned that Tarrant was in the goal square, Moody and McGrath were both on the bench and Jason Johnson shepherded for Wells on the wing. Throw in a Cloke too if you like, I can't tell the difference so any of them is fine.

and then u all wake up and realise that its dream and come to reality and think about how u could have had judd or hodge in your team instead of trading for trent croad and losing him 2 seasons later! and why mcphee was traded and also andrew mcleod!!

freo could have been unstoppable, but u can still dream :D

yep was great for the development of our young guys, he taught hentschel, bock and rutten a thing or two.

may not have set the world on fire but was priceless off the field!

The reality is that we are looking okay for next year and beyond with guys we already have. :thumbsu:

Yes we are looking ok, abd it is fair to expect the list to improve. But the reality is that most of the top 8 are going to improve next year as well. i think we need more than simply the current list to improve to be a real flag chance. Regardless, anything that can be done to make us better should be done.

Yep we have had a few...I didnt realise till you came onto this fremantle board and pointed it out though

I wouldn't discount JJ , if he came cheap ( with his age etc...should do) & he would like to come to freo, I think he could help us out for 2/3 years. His no nonsense straight ahead approach, taking the hangers ,would be refreshing in our midfield. He has been a very consistent player for the bombers and more importantly ,he finished the year of on a high with good stats. He kicks goals, what we need.

I think Freo would be an attractive prospect for an experienced midfielder atm regardless of what their home state is because they could have a crack at a premiership.

You do know that was another life time ago? You're talking 2001 and before. Even with the Croad deal we got McPharlin. As for McPhee, I'm not sure he is travelling any better than Headland ATM.

Gee this trade week could be a big one. I for one would hope that freo would be looking to improve the list, therefore not trade for guys like Moodie. Aker wants to be in melbourne because of the media (media for afl is pretty strong here) and to be involved in a premiership for a team that hasnt won one for a while (well freo has never won one). I can see it happening.
