This thread may be a little premature but it's something that has really been on my mind. How important was the pick up of Alan Richardson?

It seems the development of our young players is flying along. Sure, there are defficiencies but I would say the last time we've had so many young players come into the team and perform a senior role would be 1993.

Although it's only 2 wins (hopefully a third in succession on Sunday) but winning is infectious. How much of this is owed to Alan Richardson?

Draft of the year!

The more he does, the more Knighter impresses me.

The complete turn-around of the football department, and some of the ballsy on-field calls he has made are looking like masterstrokes.

The next flag will be all the more enjoyable for the guys like Merv who have stuck with him from day 1.

I agree Ben..
But I think we have had a really good list for awhile.. It's just injuries have taken there toll..
what we're seeing now although is our first rounders being very good players.. as aposed to when sheedy was here...
So, yeah Donners I think we are seeing the result with Alan Richardson..

I work with a bloke who's a supposed "Essendon" fan...he doesn't rate Knights at all, even after the last two weeks, still thinks we're going to finish bottom four and doesn't rate our list. I sometimes wonder whether he even watches our games...

To top it off, he reckons his mum's, brother's, sister's uncle knows the boot studder at Essendon and the word is if Essendon doesn't make the finals, Knights is out. He's one of those "I know a lot of people that work at Essendon" types and I've felt like saying on numerous occasions that he doesn't know jack s*** about Essendon and that he's an embarassment of a supporter - but I've only known the bloke for a couple of weeks so I'll cut him some slack...for now.

It still irks me at how some Essendon supporters aren't excited about the direction of our list - I can excuse opposition supporters - they simpy don't have a clue, but Essendon supporters  - you'd have to be blind to not see the potential.

I'd call him on some of it.
Ask what number Hocking wears, how well he thought Darce has been going.
You'll find out if he's paying any attention
I've found there are those who are still so bitter from Sheedy's sacking they can't accept anything positive happening.

I would say no more than any other coach.

Alan Richardson isn't our development coach, Prescott and Hicky are.

I'm sure he's had an impact, because all coaches are in some way development coaches.
But I wouldn't give Richardson any more credit than I would to Knights.

I know Richo has done a lot of one-on-one work with Quinn however.

i've been very impressed by alan richardson from the training sessions i've been to. he's comes across instantly as a guy that demands respect from the players, he sets the tone, provides great feedback and seems to have a very good brain.

all coaches in one way or another are involved in development and alan richardson certainly does develop the younger players.

we've seen immediate results with both hurley and zaharakis.

I'm with Longy. To me it shows that all the changes that have been implemented over the past year or two are starting to justify themselves. Obviously we're a while off yet, but the direction off the field is very promising just like the direction on the field.

And on the topic of Knights bashers, from my experience it has come from the same people who were calling for Sheedy's head in the final 3-4 years of his reign. A lot of animosity spawned last season during our 8 game losing streak and it seems to have stuck.

I can't understand it for life of me.
