I dont usually like to vent my anger towards individual players but toovey disgraced himself tonight. He chops up the ball every time he gets it, or tries to get it.
I dont know why they brought him in as he had no outstanding current form. But i do realise that he was brought in to negate deledio and my god did he do a fantastic job!!
I understand that many of you guys are going to have a crack at me but i just dont think toovey is anywhere near our best 22 or best 35 for that matter!!

Dont want to bag him personally as he seems to try and is probably a great kid but

HOW DID HE GET ONTO AN AFL LIST

Dont know if I have seen a player with less awareness about whats going on around him and his skills seem so ordinary (wouldnt expect to see the mark he dropped in the goalsquare tonight be put down by a player in z grade ressies tomorrow)

I am not commenting on Toovey as a person, but Toovey the football player is not good enough to be on an AFL list. Why he was selected for tonight, with no form to speak of, over the likes of Stanley, Iles, Wellingham etc. defies comprehension.

If Toovey plays next week, Malthouse is tanking.

I can only agree! Yeah, he might be a nice bloke, but I thought the days of picking up nice blokes but shit footballers ended when Tony Shaw was shown the door!

He wasn't the reason we lost tonight, but gee did he help. No skills, no awareness and his only contibution was for the Tigers - in fact may have ended up in their best players!

I had an opinion of him that was not too healthy before tonight. That game just confirmed it.

He doesn't possess great skill and has very little athleticism. Seems to be a big gumby.

For all those who will say give him a chance, he's only young etc - our list is good enough that he has fallen into the bottom 4 or 5 people and has shown he will not get out of it. We have to make the call so we do not push someone like Burns into retirement or force those kids that do actually have talent (mainly talking about Stanley and Cook here) off the list.

^ Bingo. Only retirements can save him, because he isn't better than any of our other young players.

Don't bag Toovey guys, this is his first year everyone. He had a shocker tonight, but so did the entire team, besides Lockyer and maybe Thomas.

I hope they don't drop Toovey as I want to see how he responds next week.

He doesn't win the footy, he isn't smart, he doesn't use the ball well, he ain't very tough, he isn't great in the contest, he ain't overly quick, so Mick, I am waiting to see why he was selected. Is there something we're missing.

I mean he wasn't going great guns in the VFL and hasn't had an impact since being dropped back, so surely that means he will grace the AFL field and play a blinder.:thumbsd:

What the hell was the idea. That is the most un-earned game of AFL football I have ever seen.

The kid has played about 8-10 games for the Pies right, and this may be harsh, but I honestly hope I never see him pull on the black and white again. He simply has nothing to work with!!! There are players that have a base where you say, right he was ordinary tonight, but gee there is a lot to work with, but there is no aspect of his game that he does well. He cost us dearly tonight. Save the kid the embarressment and de-list him at years end.

There was one moment late in the game where Pettifer and Toovey were matched-up, and he honestly just left him. Just left him. He was never going to make the contest. It was hand-balled over his head to Pettifer for an open goal.

WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU DOING

I have said he is a dud all along and got shut down by so many people on this board. Unfortunately for the team, I was proven correct tonight.

If he is there next year, I won't be buying a membership, because I do not give my money to incompetent fools.

I have never seen someone as slow as he is to get rid of the ball and never seen someone with such little awareness of what is around him. He will be very lucky to be with us next season i'd say

He can't defend that deplorable performance. The game he played tonight was the worst I have ever seen an AFL player deliver. Having shown little before tonight's effort its safe to say its curtains for his career because Collingwood can not afford to have players like that on their list.

Look, he was appalling tonight, especially first half. But the dropped marks etc were mostly nerves I'd think. I thought he worked pretty hard to get to the right spots in a lot of occasions (though not all) and at least had a go, which is more than you would say about a lot of others.

Nor was he even our worst player tonight. He's behind the other kids atm but to say that he's the worst AFL player you've ever seen or something of the sort is ridiculous.

They should drop him back to Wili, see how he goes the rest of the year, and come delistings time make a decision. fwiw I'd still rather see Bryan, Licca and a couple of others go before him. But having said that, if the decision comes down to Toovey or Stanley/Iles/Cook it's a pretty easy one.

(Btw, I can't recall Nicholls getting this much shit for playing an even worse game against WCE on debut - young players will have bad days and good days. Sometimes you have to be patient)

lets all get stoned on lexus centre roof. And on a monday, for the unemployable of us out there. If they send the players out to shoo us off with a broom, that would be more gusto than I saw anytime tonight.

I remember that thread, and jeez were you shouted down in that one, But deadset last night he was a rabbit in the headlights. Doesnt matter how nice a bloke he is...he'll never be more than a VFL player.

. Fair dinkum guys. When you play a fullback in the midfield then decide to move him onto one of the quickest players in the AFL dont be shocked when he gets towelled up.

In his final year of WAFL footy he was one of the best FBS in the comp taking on the gorilla FF of the comp. Was a terrific spoiler. Goes to Collingwood and all of a sudden Mick expects him to be some midfield dynamo with extreme pace. It isnt going to happen. Fact is he should of been playing on a Richo or a Polak yesterday not a Deledio or a Brown.

Your not going to know if hes any good or not unless you play him in the position he actually plays. Its downright poor coaching in the end which leads to that type of performance

O.K, so i guess in that context when a player at cricket makes a duck it's curtains for him for his career! Hodge made two duck-eggs in the one-day series, then got a 3rd chance and made a matchwinning 99 n.o. Surely in his first game back for a while he cannot be crucified for one bad game?

I know it didn't look good, but Deledio seemed fired up to make a statement, and he got a few early goals that put Toovey on the back foot. Toovey had a great debut against the Tigers first time around by being a crumbing/opportunist forward, surely a bloke like Dudhurst would be more accomplished this year than he's proven so far?

I don't like your cricket analogy, if I was to use one to describe playing Toovey it's akin to batting Glenn McGrath at number 3. The boy doesn't have it and we have much better options on our list.

Cricket is a game where, if you're batting, you make one mistake and you're out.

Alan Toovey made mistake after mistake after mistake the other night.
