Do you see Jono O'Rourke making an immediate impact or is he a long term proposition? Also of the new recruits who has impressed the most?

We've recruited Frawley and O'Rourke with a mindset of being able to contribute at senior level straight away. Some of our younger players have been drafted as 18 year olds who just need some time to learn the craft and physically prepare them for the challenges ahead.

Clarko, what is the single most important attribute you look for in a football player?
I always say his ability to kick the ball.

Will Cyril be played as more of a forward this year or will we see him play in the midfield?
We'll probably use him in both positions again, but we'll just be more mindful of watching his loads from game to game. That will determine what position he'll play on any given week.

Hey Clarko, How is Tim O'Brien's development coming along? He is obviously rated very highly internally given he was handed the number 23 jumper. Will he play much senior football this year?
Made his debut last year and played some games for us, and we're looking for him to emerge and play some more senior footy in 2015.

Clarko, is Luke Breust going to start moving towards the middle of the ground or will he stay put this season?
We've already started the move of Bruest into the midfield and that happened in the course of 2013 and 2014, so 2015 will just be a continuation of what has already been occuring.

Is Jed Anderson ready Clarko?
Yeah Jed's had an interrupted 12 months with season ending shoulder surgery in 2013, and together with a number of other youngsters in our system, he's ready to step up and play regular senior football.

Can we expect to see the two NZ boys in Heatherley and Tatupu play any senior footy in 2015?
Both those guys have worked really hard on learning the craft of Australian rules football, Kurt was really close to being elevated off the rookie list last year, and demonstrated the capacity to play at the top level, so he's close to senior footy. Shem is tracking 12 months behind Kurt but we're really pleased with the progress that he's making and he'll feature regularly at Box Hill this year.

How does the back 6 look now with the acquisition of Frawley? Does it free Gibbo up? Does Hodgeys role change?
The recruiting of Frawley gives us much more flexibility. We've been unable to use Gibson, Lake, Stratton, Birchall or Hodge in other areas of the ground as much as we'd like.

Do you see Langford breaking away from his tagging responsibilities and cementing a permanent spot in the midfield?
I think he showed in the last part of the season that he was capable of winning his own ball as well as stopping an opposition midfielder from doing the same.

What other sports and codes of football give you ideas in coming up with your game plan and style of play each year?
It's not so much football codes but combative ball sports around the world. Hockey, soccer, basketball, water polo, rugby are significant parts of that.

Will we see Billy Hartung have more of a crack this year? Kid is a jet!
Yeah we'd like to think he's tracking in the same pathway as Bradley Hill from a couple of years ago, we're searching for him to get more opportunities in 2015.

Thanks for posting Cryptor but a random AFL fan could have provided as much as Clarko.

Gotta love the guy, is giving people absolutely nothing.

Good on him too...
True, but not all fans are as "involved" as we are so we're not exactly the target audience despite being Hawks fans.

Plus they're always going to answer the light and fluffy questions which allow for the standard PR responses.

I would've liked to have heard his thoughts in more depth about where he sees the game style heading. But he's unlikely to publically talk about that until we're taking full advantage of his visionary ways.

Interesting that they recruited JOR with a view to him contributing this year, if they saw something in him that they think makes the team better that's exciting

Thanks for posting but these events are pointless unless we get something out of them that adds value.

Would it really have been difficult for Clarko to say something like:

Clarko, is Luke Breust going to start moving towards the middle of the ground or will he stay put this season?
We've already started the move of Bruest into the midfield and that happened in the course of 2013 and 2014, so 2015 will just be a continuation of what has already been occurring. In 2013 he averaged 9.8 kms a game, 10.9kms in 2014 and we expect that to be 11.5 kms a game in 2015. In addition, in 2013 he spent 83% of his time in the forward fifty, that dropped to 75% last year and we are looking forward to that being about 65% this year. A lot of that will depend on injuries and his form though. He was so red hot around goals in 2014 that we felt it made more sense to keep him there in 2014 and move other guys like Hodge and Burgoyne into the middle. The loss of Rioli also meant that we relied more on Luke's crumbing ability up forward, as we did with Paul Puopolo. On top of that, we also felt that with the reduced rotations, having Breust and Puopolo up forward - where both spent over 90% of their time on the ground up there - that it provided us with more opportunities for other rotations, such as giving guys like Rough, Gunston, Hodge, Mitch and Burgoyne time on the bench after their midfield stints.

We would love that, of course. Reality is that most fans who don't hang out here would fall asleep if he started talking stats and really just want to hear how Breust is going to be the next Gary Ablett Jnr.

Has a new recruit at our Club ever got as much attention/hype as JOR?

Since he was recruited he has been mentioned in a lot of articles, face on the website and the odd beat up.

Quite like Hawthorn to put this pressure/expectation on a player. Especially a 20yo. Especially one who was already under the pump as pick 2

Is this to deflect attention off the big FA recruit Frawley

Recruited specifically to play the decoy role Buddy did in 2013, only off the field instead? :p

IIRC Garlett got a lot of attention/hype last year and we all know how that ended

Nailed it. As much as I love Clarko, I stopped reading after first answer. Put it this way, I would have said a lot less if I was coach so i don't expect him to.
