2007 & 2008 We were blessed with AA's, and accordingly played in 2 GF'S and deserved to be there as favourites.. So that is a pretty good measure of how we are travelling. So right now, how many legit AA.s do we have? I'd nominate Ablett Scarlett Chappy Dog Enright. That's a fair drop in numbers and may reflect our fortunes this year. 5 is still awesome.
Saints-Hayes, Dal Santo Goddard Riewoldt Fisher Montagna +/- Kosi
Pies- Davis, Didak, Swan ?others
Dogs- Lake, Gilbee, Aker,Higgins, ?others etc.
Any thoughts

Selwood would have to be a fair chance, stellar start to the season, even if he has slightly tapered the last month.

But yes, can't see a plethora of cats players in the '09 AA side. Might be a good thing :thumbsu:

Of the other sides you mentioned:
-Kosi is NO chance for AA
-Would possibly suggest Pendlebury over Davis
-Higgins is too hot and cold and has missed games, but a certainty in years to come, absolute jet...

The Saints will be the new Cats in terms of AA selections:

Cats - Ablett & Scarlett certainties. Johnson & Chappie likely. Enright, Selwood possibles

Saints - Riewoldt, Del Santo, Hayes & Montagna look certainties. Fisher, Gardiner, Kozi, Goddard are likely.

I think Corey Enright is an absolute certainty if the team were being picked right now.
As good as in would be Ablett, Selwood, Scarlett and Steve Johnson.
Chapman a possibility, big possibility actually.
No one else i would imagine would be a serious consideration

Yes i agree Kozzie is no chance. but DalSanto, Montagna, Hayes, Riewoldt, Goddard will be hard done by if they missed out.
Not sure about their maybe players TBH.

Didak and Davis certainties i reckon for Pies with Swan a chance. Not sure if the likes of Lockyer, O'Bree and Fraser have been good enough to be considered. They'd need stellar last months i'd think.

Brian Lake will probably get AA full-back (AA selection at the very least) and Aker will probably get in(top effort for an old 300+ gamer!) Surely Boyd will get in and Griffin with Gilbee(maybe Gilbee??)

Not sure how many Crows are a chance but Bernie Vince would come in to consideration.

I think thats it for the top teams IMO

Of the top four teams...

Geelong: Ablett, Scarlett, Johnson certanties. Chapman, Enright extremely likely. Selwood very strong chance (tapered off in past month).

St Kilda: Riewoldt, Montagna, Hayes certainties. S. Fisher, Goddard extremely likely. Dal Santo still good chance but not having the same impact he was having in first 7-9 rounds.

Collingwood: Swan extremely likely but hard to say he's a certainty when competing for midfield spot with so many other great players. Didak and Davis both deserving of spots - Didak missed well over a month with injury though and had a slow start to year.

Bulldogs: Lake certainty. Cooney, Cross, Akermanis strong chances.

I know it's a repulsive thought, but Nick Maxwell must be a chance?

He'll make the squad if he keeps playing like he is, why do people think Didak will make it after 6 games for the year?

from the Casts: Abblet & Scarlett for sure probably Enright should make it same with Chappy and Stevie J better come back soon if he is going to make it. Would it be crazy if I said the S word (stokes) would be in with a chance

Yes. It would be crazy. Lucky to be getting a game in our side at the moment.
