I was overlooked last season when I was second for the Alfie and had a great posting season on the premise that the Alfie medallist always gets full forward (and somehow another midfielder got CHF).

I was overlooked in season 11 even though I won the Alfie.

I will be overlooked again this season. Tarks was the standout FF and a deserved All SFA FF. I was running second until a switch to the midfield in the last 4 or 5 weeks to give Bengwatkins a chance. I'm hoping to give CHF a crack or maybe a token bench spot, but if my above history is anything to go by I will be overlooked.

May play midfield next season, then I can take up one of the other 19 spots on the ground.

/DemonJim rant.

You need to be a captain (except peterss) to guarantee your position.

EDIT: I forgot you're on the committee, you're in.

In fairness, the majority of captains are in the top handful of posters in the league. Usually, this results in prime positions which means that their on-field performances are very good also. Usually, their spot is deserved.

My place in the committee won't have much of an impact. I've never been involved in the selection process and as a secondary member, I will stay mostly quiet. I highly doubt it is a place where people will push to justify their own selection.

Congratulations Mobbenfuhrer.

Na, Mobbs couldn't care less about personal accolades. I've already excluded him from this debate last season.

In my opinion, selection should be based mainly on off field actions, as Without the activity, the onfield side of things Would be pointless, and it's What keeps the league thriving.

I was being sarcastic regarding yourself, you deserve a spot, alas you're probably right, but I can name one particular player (I won't) that I guarantee get's selected and isn't deserving.

As it sits right now, I'd have the following as the only absolute certainties if I Was involved in selection.

Doesn't a midfielder always get CHF though? You might be right.

Presuming I'm a lock, but I definitely know that my first All-SFA season was fairly undeserving, but I've copped another season or two doing the team thing and playing half back only to have those positions awarded to midfielders.

TL;DR - chook rafflle

The Alfie always gets FF too (unless they are me in S11 :P)

I'm not sure if the CHF thing always happens, but it is very very strange.

The 70/30 split in favour of on-field I find quite difficult.

Nobody knows people's on-field situations (EG - posters that move from FF to midfield for the last 4 or 5 weeks which affects the season stats). It's not like it's real football where everybody watching the games can have an informed opinion.

Maybe there is a case for both an on field and an off field All SFA selection?

I have never been a fan of the selection process, but since I have not yet come up with a viable alternative, I won't complain too much about process.

MD step up and stop being a little bitch.

Tarkyn_24 you're welcome.

You're privvy to the inside runnings of the selection of the side, and it appears as though the truth has you a little flustered.

I've always been in the camp of the All-SFA being as accurate a representation of the competition's best team, based on selecting players in the positions (or at least the zones) that the players play. This was reflected in the RFFL teams when I used to be involved there. The captains would nominate a list of players that were divided into backmen, ruckmen, midfielders and forwards, with segmentation as appropriate, and the bench being the two best players to miss selection in their positions (so usually two midfielders). I just think that the team itself should be a representation of the best team, from performance in both posting and simulation, and not a list of the 20 players with the best stats, because this creates more, and not less of a bias towards midfielders, when the comp is already biased that way due to the fact that players want to play in priority positions.

Off-field them I'm a shoe-in. FP again perhaps.

Your off field exploits never associated with anything SFA relevant. You still lose.;)
